Hello
I was in Nepal and having no phone, I wanted to send emails and then... it was impossible! After identifying myself with my email and password, I was asked for precaution to provide a phone number to resend a code, which was impossible for me, as I did not have the requested equipment...
How could I have done it?
Thank you in advance...
Best regards
Fanfan

    As you said yourself
it was offered to me as a precaution

you usually connect from an IP xxxxxx
and suddenly an IP xxxxxx from the other side of the world

this often happens for his sites when you're abroad
to check if it's really you
or if your account has been hacked by a guy in Nepal

when you create your hotmail (outlook) account, the number is requested as security to verify that it's really you to recover a forgotten password for example, or on a second backup email so you can just put one if you think it's necessary Microsoft isn't going to call you for tea, don't worry and your number will be visible to everyone

you need to go to your profile click on it
    account settings
    security information

    it looks like this

To verify that this is indeed your email address, please enter it below and click "Next" to receive your code.

yeah well, the problem is that to retrieve my code from the backup box, it's still not possible because they keep asking for a code that is in another backup box and so on... So it's no longer possible to travel without a phone, great the century of communication!
