Reset a Windows XP

Turn on the computer. When the Dell logo appears, press F8 several times to access the "Advanced Boot Options" window of Vista. Select Repair your computer.

The System Recovery Options window appears.

- Select a keyboard layout, then click Next.
- To access the repair options, log in as a local user. To access the command prompt, enter administrator in the Username field, then click OK.
- Click on Dell Factory Image Restore. Depending on your configuration, you may need to select Dell Factory Tools, then Dell Factory Image Restore.
- The welcome screen for Dell Factory Image Restore appears.
- Click Next.
- The Confirm Data Deletion screen appears.
- Check the box to confirm that you wish to proceed with the reformatting of the hard drive and restoration of system software to its original state, then click Next.

- The restoration process begins. A message appears when the operating system and pre-installed applications have been restored to their factory condition.
Click Finish to restart the system.

check if there is a restore point on the C: drive.

tanteelise: the brand is Dell XP Professional T7570. And bourbon 2146; I have already done system restorations.

I tried what you told me but there is nothing written of what you say, when I press the F8 key here is what appears:

_Start Windows in VGA mode
_Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
_Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers)

_Start Windows normally
_Restart
_Return to the operating system selection menu

Restoring the factory default configuration of the computer

1. Upon restarting the computer, press <F8> before the Windows logo appears on the screen until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.

2. Press the <Down Arrow> to select Repair Your Computer from the Advanced Boot Options menu, then press <Enter>.

3. Specify your desired language settings, then click Next.

4. Log in as a user with administrative rights, then click OK.

5. Click on Dell Factory Image Restore.

6. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.

7. Check the box Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.

8. Click Next. The factory default configuration of the computer is restored.
