access WD My Cloud Solved

Question

Hello,

I just acquired a 2TB WD My Cloud network hard drive
I can access it well from my smartphone or my PC
however, I have a problem with the Freebox, it appears correctly on the "My Drives" page but when I enter it, no folder appears.
I also have this problem with my Raspberry under OpenELEC (I haven’t tried with Raspbian yet)...

Hello,

After encountering the same problem, here is the solution I found:

After checking my configuration in the WD My Cloud dashboard, there was an issue:

By clicking on settings, then "media", I had the line:

Media Music tracks: 0 Images: 0 Videos: 0

I then went to the Twonky Server dashboard of WD My Cloud.

To do this, you just need to enter the IP number of your WDMy Cloud followed by port 9000 in your browser.
Example: 192.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000

I selected the tab at the top right "settings", then "sharing"
and there, ohhhh surprise, no shared directories.

I simply clicked on "browse", chose "/shares/Public" and saved the changes so that all my files were accessible again from the Freebox.

I have the Freebox V6

For sharing rights, I managed that with the WD MyCloud dashboard
But to give user rights, I need to provide an email address to grant rights from the outside (I may not be clear here ...)
I don't see how to give rights to my media players (Freebox, Raspberry, and PS3)
My PC is running Windows 7

Hello,

It is necessary to distinguish between 2 different types of access:
- shared file access, for example from the PC to the network drive
- multimedia access like from the Freebox to a network drive

In the latter case, the multimedia software must exist and be activated on the network drive (this is sometimes called upnp / dlna). And the only visible files will be those present in the three multimedia source directories: photos, sounds, videos.

I managed to solve the problem by making the folders I wanted to access publicly accessible.
I had set passwords for access and was told that the Freebox was unable to handle access like that.

Hello,

with the Freebox you can watch a movie on your PC and transfer it to the TV, either publicly or through the residential group, the Freebox is like an extra PC. Personally, from my PC I have access to the hard drive of the Freebox 6 without any problem.
