Hello,

I want to reset the password on my computer running Windows 7. I followed a process I found through online research. But when I got to the point where I needed to change the password, it says "The username cannot be found."
Actually, I used this command: "net user username new_password."
Now, I wanted to know if there is a MS DOS command that allows me to find out my username? I could completely reinstall the system, but that would waste my time. So I wanted to know how to find out my username in MS DOS.
Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows 8 / Internet Explorer 10.0

Lacharpente, you are simply great, you have brought me even more value, howçamarche really needs people like you. Once again, thank you. Because last time when I had a problem with booting from USB with notebooks that come with original Windows, you didn't hesitate to help me. Thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you. Be blessed.

Hello

to change the password, there's an easier way: CTRL-ALT-DELETE, then change the password.

otherwise, the net user command lists the users

Phil2k, thanks for your input. But when I executed your command, it didn't yield anything.
Lacharpente's response is the correct one.
