Hello,
I recently bought an honestech 2.5 capture device. The software works but refuses to recognize the device. The only recognized device is my PC's webcam. However, everything is properly connected.
Can you please help me?

Video transfer box
Hello, to transfer the content of an analog VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8 cassette or an analog video stream, you need to connect the camcorder or VCR or other devices to an "external box" that handles the "hardware" conversion of the "analog stream" into "digital" and connect the box to the computer via a USB cable. The file is converted to mpeg2, a format easy to burn and compatible with all players, and allows for editing with "Studio".
You connect the box and camcorder or VCR with an S-VHS connection (recommended) or composite (less good) (yellow RCA) and a cable for sound (2 RCA red, white). For the VCR, you need a Scart connection with an adapter or cable with an "out" direction or with an in-out switch output S-VHS or composite yellow RCA (less good) plus sound, two RCA outputs red and white.
Remember to select PAL for color.
I recommend the Dazzle box, either "Recorder" for DVD only or HD Video, Creator, or Platinum depending on your needs if you want to "arrange" your movies with titles and music.
The price of the advanced editing software STUDIO 14 HD (value only €61) provided with this box in "Creator" and "Platinum" versions makes the product interesting.
It can also be found second-hand online and can be resold when you no longer need it.
There are exotic products like USB keys and 4 wires, cheaper but beware, they often cause issues, as seen in desperate posts from members on the forum. The format being 4:3, image quality can only be judged on a living room TV screen. The link:

I'm having the same problem as you. My computers do not recognize the honestech key, and Glandu's response didn't help me. What did you do? Does it work for you? Thank you.
