To operate an Agfa scanner under Vista: procedure to follow.
1) Unzip the scanwise.exe software using WinRAR into a folder
2) connect the scanner
3) specify to Windows the folder where scanwise has been unzipped
4) Windows automatically detects the driver and installs it
5) install scanwise by double-clicking on setup.exe still in the same folder
6) set the compatibility of scanwise: Windows 95 + run this program as an administrator.
And voilà! Miracle! It works!

I also have Vista and an Agfa E20 scanner and it doesn't work either! The software that comes with it installs like a charm but the PC doesn't recognize my scanner! What a mess Vista is!
Hello, the operation is lengthy but not impossible.
1- Clean the registry by executing regedit, typing ''vuescan'' in the search engine, and deleting all keys and values containing ''vuescan''. Do the same with ''agfa'': do the same with ''scanwise''.
2- Disconnect the USB scanner and power supply.
3- Uninstall the image device driver in ''Device Manager''.
4- Uninstall scanwise.
5- Download ''scanwise 2.0''.
6- Unzip it into a folder called ''a''.
7- In folder ''a'', click on ''scanwise.exe'' (scanner still disconnected) and install it in folder ''a''.
8- Connect the scanner, let Windows detect the scanner.
9- Windows will not automatically find the driver; you will need to indicate the ''a'' folder.
10- It works; the driver is installed.
11- Once the driver is installed, you may need to reinstall your original software to use your scan.
To return to Programs and Features, uninstall scanwise 2.0 (this will not uninstall the driver) and normally reinstall your version of scanwise, e20, e26, etc...
And there, your troubles are over.
Good luck.

Great, thank you, this trick that works, I just tested it, will allow many to continue using their scanner instead of buying a new one (saving for our poor planet too).
Hello,
To be able to use scanners that are not compatible with Vista or for which the manufacturer has not developed drivers, it is possible to use a paid application: Vuescan (available in English only).
I have an Epson scanner that is not compatible with Vista and yet it works with this software. :-)

You can download a trial version from the site.

Good evening.
Thank you for the information on how to get my e-52 scanner recognized by Vista. It has been recognized, but when I click on the scan icon, a message appears (THE SCANNER NO LONGER FUNCTIONS PROPERLY, CONSULT THE LOG FILE FOR MORE DETAILS) where can I find this log ???? Thank you for your help and see you soon.

Hello, hi everyone, thanks for the information, my Snapscan E 26 is working really well, thanks again for the info
P.S. In the review issue of Windows Vista, in the October-November issue, many things are explained about Vista + a small paragraph on the software P.S. you can download the translation for the Hamrick software at http:/iview.free.fr/vuescan.
See you online

Hi
I tried your method for my Snapscan Touch scanner, but when I start the scan, it says:
"The following error occurred while attempting to launch Scanwise. The requested operation requires elevation"
I have already checked the option (in the Compatibility tab of Scanwise Properties) "Run this program as an administrator"
But it still doesn't work.
Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Thank you very much for this procedure, which I will try as soon as I have internet again (I'm changing hardware, type of connection...); but um, what is WinRAR? I only know WinZip.
