Does HDMI allow data transfer between two machines?

Hello,

does an HDMI cable also allow for data transfer between a PC, a laptop, and a multimedia box that has HDMI connections?

Or is it only used to transmit a video and audio signal from the video player to the TV?

For example, my laptop has an HDMI interface and my multimedia box does too. Is it possible to copy a DVD or an MP4 from my laptop to my multimedia drive?

Otherwise, my laptop has USB 3 and the multimedia box has USB 2. There’s no eSATA or Firewire.

Who can help me?

Regards

    Hi
I haven't seen any of that online (copied via HDMI)
but I think the simplest thing would be to copy to your box and then to your third source (your PC

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

Here’s my problem: I have a DUNE HD MAX media player and I’m wondering how to copy approximately 500 DVDs of 4GB each as quickly as possible, knowing that my USB 2.0 connection reaches a maximum of 20 MB/s.

Would it be better to convert them to MP4 and then copy them either via WIFI or USB flash drive?

My goal: to have all my movies on my media player, which doesn’t have a DVD reader.

    Can anyone advise me?

HDMI is only for signal transport... A file copy requires a dialogue between the two... Here, there is no feedback.

Copying a DVD is not possible... Because of DRM protection... Special software is required, this dialogue is against the Forum's charter.

From MP4 to multimedia disc... Maybe yes. Depending on the nature of the film and copyright.

in mp4 you will lose quality (it all depends on the base resolution)
    but for transfer.

I advise you more on USB because you have losses over wifi, for you it will be fragments of your files that will have disappeared once on your box,

your PC knows it, but will have to reconstruct your file remotely, so it's a waste of time

You shouldn't use WiFi; it's a communication with errors... You need a wired connection... If it's over the network...

USB isn't great either unless you have USB -3

The best option is to be connected directly to the motherboard with SATA connections

For 500 disks, that's at least 500 hours for DVDs... If you re-encode them, in DivX for example, you can multiply by three (it depends on the PC)

Not to mention that it results in 2TB of files... You should analyze the situation...!
