Sims 1 on Windows 8

Hello,
I'm encountering a little issue regarding the use of The Sims 1 on Windows 8. It installs just fine, as do the add-ons. Once the last one is installed (the Abracadabra one), I launch the game and everything is fine. I exit, no problem. The issue arises when I want to relaunch it. Then, it informs me that I installed an older add-on after the most recent one, and so I need to let it perform an update. So I let it do that, except that once the installation starts, the only option available is to uninstall all of The Sims. Basically, the expected update does not occur, and if I refuse to uninstall them, the installation stops dead and goodbye, curtain down. So, I can only play right after installation; once I quit the game, that's it. I have to reinstall everything because both Windows 7 and Windows 8 are asking me to uninstall everything.
Anyway, does anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 24.0.1312.57

I don't know how you managed to install them without problems because even The Sims 2 has major bugs on Windows 8.

Well, the first disc takes three hours to be recognized; it works a bit better on Windows 7 for that. But otherwise, almost no problems installing them.

Have you installed your add-ons in order?

Almost. The first time I made a mess because I couldn't remember, and when it was time to play, the abracadabra did an update (which worked), and I was able to play. But because I hadn't played yet, the first update worked. In order or not, it makes no difference.
