[PS3] Cooling Issue

If you've gotten to this point, it's because you've had a major issue (like YLOD), so disassembly + reassembly of the PS3 + repair done by you, I suppose.

repairs are not an exact science

You say you haven't had a YLOD but symptoms
you can definitely have overheating without necessarily having the YLOD
which is a yellow light but essentially it’s the same

When your PS3 experiences overheating
changing the thermal paste is one thing
but the fans also take a hit as well as the motherboard

Even repair specialists will tell you
after overheating it’s not guaranteed it will work again

Moreover, you have tinkered with it, we don't know your skill level at all
what you did or might not have done correctly

You should first test another fan
if it's still acting up then you'll need to hire a specialist

If I had asked for help before disassembling it, I would have been told to disassemble it knowing that it isn't under warranty.

After all, I wouldn't mind being advised to change parts if it would help; on the contrary, I would prefer to be told that rather than "If we don't know, we don't touch" because that doesn't help me.

I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and if they found a trick or better yet a solution to at least make the fan noise less bothersome.

On the Fat, I tried other fans but it doesn't change anything, and I haven't tried it on the slim.

I think my level is quite respectable, at least when it comes to disassembling a console for maintenance.
