Increase Minecraft character reach

Hello, I'm trying to increase the distance at which I can place a block in Minecraft using single player commands and by doing /reach <number of blocks>, but it tells me that this command is unknown. I'm on 1.4.7 with the SPC mod also in 1.4.7.

    Hello, the same thing is happening to me.
    Did you create your world with or without "Cheats"?
    Did you install it manually or automatically?
    Otherwise, try typing /help to see all the commands you can use.
