Hello,
I have a 10-year-old Bose 5.1 speaker system connected to a similarly aged Denon amplifier, and when I watch movies with loud sound, the speakers, especially the surround ones at the back, crackle. They continue to crackle even when I pause, meaning there's no sound at all, but the volume is at maximum. This stops when I lower the volume.
My amplifier is connected to my projector with one end using RCA and the other end using a jack, as my amplifier doesn’t have HDMI.
Configuration: iPhone / Safari 5.1

It is very likely that it comes from the amplifier; you should try to test it with an amplifier that you know works well. I think that's the first thing to test.

Thank you, so it's certain that it's not a problem with the speakers, I was afraid it might be dead, especially since it's 10 years old. But what I find strange is that it can be heard mostly with the two surround speakers, maybe it would just be a connection issue?

I think it’s more noticeable on the surround speakers because they are more sensitive to the disturbances sent by the amp than the other speakers.
However, I can’t say with 100% certainty that it’s coming from the amp, but there’s a high chance, so the best way to find out is to do a test with an amp that you know works well.
I had a similar case with a 30-year-old Scott 460A, and it took me some time to realize that it was actually the amp that was crackling and not the speakers.

Thank you, I will see if I can find another amplifier.
