Hello everyone, recently I inquired about taking a distance learning course for an IT maintenance technician, and I found two centers: CNFDI and Educatel. My problem is the following: I don't know which one to choose....? Can you help me in my choice because I'm a bit lost....

Thank you

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help me by giving advice on the different training centers for computer maintenance. I am a 19-year-old Cameroonian living in the economic capital (Douala) and I want to learn about computer networking. Can I get assistance from this forum? And if possible, download the courses to improve my skills in this field. This is my first time entering the site forum, thanks to a friend and colleague at work. I would like to connect with people in the IT field to help me understand better; here is my email: Email address removed Moderation CCM

Hi,
I'm currently doing a training in IT maintenance at CNFDI, and honestly for the price I'm paying (almost €3000), I'm very disappointed... the courses are poorly explained, the internship is not provided, and to top it all off, it's almost impossible to get refunded... I don't know what Euratel or something like that is like, but maybe you should opt for that one instead...
Talk soon.

Hello, if it helps you, I have very good memories of Educatel, you are properly followed and you take your courses by correspondence at your own pace, it's not cramming. The prices are reasonable too. So good luck for the future...

Hello! You say you have very good memories of Educatel! Did that help you find a job in this field afterward, or did you have to do another training to achieve that? I wish to follow the training for IT maintenance technician, but I hesitate because it's Educatel! Thank you for your help and your answer!

Hello everyone,
I can share my experience as I am an IT maintenance technician.
Before taking training in this field, I was just a PC enthusiast who thought I knew a lot of things.
But I had a completely different job.
I took an individual training leave at the GEFI center in Créteil and worked really hard during the training because, in fact, I didn't know much about the basics (systems, architecture, networks...).
In the end, we had a choice of several job offers and I was able to fulfill my dream of working in IT.
It's true that you need to be highly motivated before diving in, but it’s worth it!
Good luck!!!

Replying to a message from 2011, you are unlikely to get a response. For your information, there is no email contact on the forum; you do not give your email address on a public forum for everyone to see. The only way to contact someone on CCM is this one:

Good evening
I just received my first courses on IT maintenance training with EDUCATEL, and I must admit that I feel a bit scared to continue with them. The courses are poorly done, I have to complement them with online resources, and on top of that, I feel like they haven't been updated since 2005. For example, they stopped at Windows XP, they don't mention Ethernet, they're still talking about USB, and a lot of little things like that make me think that if I am to learn a new profession, I would be better off saving my money and looking elsewhere. What do you think, is there anyone who has taken this training?

At the same time, do you really think that all these organizations can afford to renew their courses every year?! Or even every six months given the speed at which technology evolves these days! The content of the courses is correct, so don’t get hung up on "details." It's very good to complement your courses with the web; that's what will help you stay updated on new developments (among other things); it's also what I do, and I don't mind working this way.
Good luck and stay motivated!

Hey, I would really like you to help me by sending me your notes please, and regarding your question, I agree with Hajime. You know, distance learning can never be like in-person classes, so it's up to us to complement them according to our choice. My email is

To answer you, I know that some colleagues from my class came from the provinces, but I think they arranged their own accommodation with family or friends, as I haven't heard of any housing provided by GEFI.
Regarding my position upon graduation, I was hired as an IT maintenance technician at a gross salary of €1750, and on average, the offered positions were between €1600 and €1800.
I’m at your disposal if you want more information.

Given the current employment crisis, I doubt I will find a job after completing an internship in network computing... especially coming out of AFPA...

Hello jeanmarcB,
You are completely mistaken about the impact of the crisis on IT maintenance.
Because while companies may halt their investments during a crisis, they are certainly obliged to call on IT maintenance services when employees are blocked by IT incidents!!!
Imagine the company's IT network goes down, do you think the company will wait until 2010 to fix it???
IT maintenance is an activity that cannot be deferred, even in a crisis.
I have been working in network maintenance for 3 years (after GEFI training) and I can tell you that my company is constantly hiring.
I remain at your disposal.

Hello,

Thank you for your precise and detailed response.

Finding a job after training is the dream for all technicians.

Moreover, GIFI is an excellent school.

You have to know that.

I am at AFPA, and I have already struggled to find a free 8-week internship.
Without the help of an instructor and their professional network, I would never have found the slightest internship.

I have doubts about hiring.

Not a single job offer from ANPE currently in the region and only 98 positions across the whole of France.

The future does not look bright for IT technicians.

Companies are no longer hiring.

The fear of tomorrow!

Best regards,

I am looking for a center to pursue a training in computer maintenance; I dream of becoming a great IT technician. I would like to know if you can help me find an effective center for this training. I am a 24-year-old Togolese young man living in Lomé. I wish for the duration of the training to be 9 months or a maximum of 1 year, either through correspondence or by attending the classes in person if possible.
Awaiting a favorable response, please accept my distinguished greetings.

Hello!
Personally, I recommend looking into CNFDI; I took correspondence courses with Educatel in computer troubleshooting, and frankly, I was disappointed.

GOOD EVENING
This training is indeed expensive. I am a teacher and I want to change careers, that's why I opted for a training in IT and network maintenance technician at Greta. I believe it would be better for you to go to the unemployment office and ask for a training of this kind, provided that you are indeed a recipient of unemployment benefits. At Greta, we were told that this training would cost us 18,000 euros without support from the unemployment office and the regional council. With the unemployment office and the regional council, it's free. There is a small assessment test.

hello :

To burn a CD or files, you need to install a software called "Nero" specifically for burning.

Good day
I am very interested in computer maintenance. However, there are no schools here that offer distance training courses. This is to be able to balance between university studies and training in computer maintenance, so I decided to contact you, counting on your understanding to help me with my ambition.
While waiting for your response, please accept my highest regards.

Hi Sam,
I took a training course last year at the GEFI center in Créteil and I now work in IT maintenance. I don't know if I could help you.
But it's clear that it's a super interesting job for those who are passionate about tech!
Plus, when we hear about layoffs everywhere, that's not the case for us, and it's logical because companies can't do without IT, so when there's a breakdown, they have to call us, whether the economy is good or not!
At your service.

Hello,

I would like to know if the IT maintenance technician training leads to a specific diploma or grants a particular qualification title.

Additionally, could some internet users provide their courses for free?

Best regards.

At GEFI, the computer maintenance technician training provides a state diploma (I received it last year).
At the end of the training, we are given a very practical summary CD with course summaries, course materials, and tips on professional integration, but I don't think I'm allowed to share it.
GEFI has been really great with me, so it's only logical that I be the same way!
In any case, good luck!

Hello,
I am in IT training but I would like to develop certain material aspects of the courses. Your CD with your maintenance technician courses really interests me. Do you still have that CD and could you possibly send me a copy? Thank you.

Hello,

To find out if the technician training in computer maintenance leads to a diploma, you just need to check whether your training is listed in the national directory of professional certifications and if your training center is accredited by the Ministry of Labor.

Happy training.

For those interested in the GEFI, the RNCP directory page that shows it is a state title is:
http://cncp.gouv.fr/CNCP/fiche_gp.php?idfiche=1703
The title is: IT Service Technician with a Maintenance option.
