PCM or Bitstream?
Hello,
Being a newbie on the subject, I have a little question to ask you, please.
I have a home cinema Blu-ray 3D system SAMSUNG HT C-6930W connected to an LED TV LG 55LW4500, and in the settings options of my home cinema, it asks me to choose the audio output which offers 3 choices: PCM / Bitstream (Re-encode) / Bitstream (Audiophile).
Which one should I choose for the best sound and HD when the source allows it (like a Blu-ray or PS3 FAT or Freebox on certain content), please?
PS: everything is connected via HDMI 1.4 to the home cinema system.
Best regards.

Hello,
The LG screen does indeed have this type of preset (Home-> Sound), with the digital audio output needing to be set to "PCM".
This essentially allows you to switch the sound from your screen to your amplifier via an optical cable.
But you mentioned that this setting needs to be done with your home theater system.
Speaking of audio output linked to the amplifier, it can only be the HDMI ports.
So, in my opinion, this setting is unnecessary as the sound will be directly processed by the home theater system, considering at this level you will have connected your PS3 and your Freebox directly to the amplifier via HDMI.
If you would like more information regarding this setting with your home theater system, I invite you to contact the manufacturer's support related to this product.
