Connect a micro USB to an external sound card

Hello,

My boyfriend gave me a USB studio microphone for Christmas. One end is a USB connector to plug it into the computer (laptop for me) and the other end looks like printer connectors...

My problem is that there is unbearable latency when I'm recording, and I see everywhere on the forums that it's a sound card issue. So I bought an external sound card, but now I have another problem (ugh!). I believe it's an XLR cable that connects to this sound card, but my microphone is USB... (not sure if you're still following:))

My question is: what can I do to eliminate this latency??! Are there cables available that could help solve my problem?

Any response would be welcome; I've been working on this for days, and I'm starting to get discouraged!!

Thank you!

Sandra

Well, I'm blanking out, plus I'm at work and can't remember!

I think it's WavePad but I'm not sure. It's definitely a free software, I've tried so many... If by the way, you have a free software to recommend, I'm all ears :)

It seems to me that it's WavePad Audio Editor, and I'm running on Windows 7.
