Hello everyone!
So here it is, I got a new graphics card, the GT630 (well, it's not high-end, but it's something). My old one is integrated into the motherboard, an Intel HD. Here’s the problem: after installing my new graphics card (which doesn’t have a power cable, is that normal?), my screen displays: Power saving mode. Could it be because when I uninstall the old graphics card, a new graphics card appears as Intel Family etc... that I can't uninstall? Or that the driver for the old card is still present on my computer? Or could it be that my screen (which is pretty old) doesn't support my graphics card? Thanks in advance for your responses!
Configuration: Windows 8 / Chrome 23.0.1271.97

Hello,
my screen displays: Power saving mode
that means your screen is not receiving any signal from the graphics card (GC)
the causes are multiple:
GC is damaged, not compatible with your motherboard,...
Have you properly plugged the monitor cable into the output of the GC?
the GT 630 does not have an additional power cable, it is powered only by the PCI-Express x 16 port
is the driver for the old card still present on my computer?
it doesn't matter, do not uninstall any drivers, it's safer^^
we can't help you further without knowing your configuration, especially the motherboard
If you have a brand-name PC, please provide the exact brand and model of the PC thanks -
Here is your PC on the manufacturer's site:
https://h22194.www2.hp.com/fr/fr/desktops/product-details/5309839
It is quite recent (the CPU was released in late 2011), so I don't think there is a compatibility issue between the graphics card and the motherboard, which was one of the possible reasons.
When I uninstall the old graphics card, a new Intel Family graphics card appears.
What was your previous graphics card? What exactly did you do?
You definitely shouldn't uninstall the Intel driver. -
So here it is, I reinstalled the Intel graphics card drivers because I read that for integrated graphics cards, there was no need to uninstall the old ones. But now, still the same problem... For the graphics card, it's a GT630 1G PNY, in the box besides the graphics card there's only a CD with the Nvidia drivers. Don't you think it might be a problem with the screen? And for the graphics card, I actually understood why another graphics card was showing up, it's the same one without the drivers. Thanks anyway for your quick and clear responses!

Thank you for your extremely quick response :)
So, I have an HP Pavilion p6-2330ef. For all the information about the computer: http://www.ldlc-pro.com/fiche/PB00137865.html. The card is not dead, because the fan is running (at least, I'm not sure that's proof, but anyway ^^) and the cable for the screen is properly connected to the GPU. -
Ha! I have some news! I reinstalled my graphics card, without touching the integrated card, and this time when starting the computer, the screen didn't go to sleep (green light and not orange, no "power saving mode" displayed), however, it remained black and no startup occurred, unless I need to wait some time for the computer to recognize the graphics card?

Don't you have a software that can check if the components are functioning? Because I can't find my motherboard anywhere, I think that's the problem...

This time when starting the computer, the screen didn't go to sleep (green light and not orange)
That's a good sign: there is now a signal reaching the screen
but it remains black, which means there is another issue:
CPU? motherboard?
Remove your new GT 630 and reconnect the screen to the motherboard output and let me know if it works. -
Ok, so the CPU and motherboard are fine (except maybe the PCI-Express x16 slot)
I see the remaining possible causes as:
- the PCI-Express x16 slot is defective:
to rule this out, you should try another GPU, any one that is PCI-Express x16,
- the GT 630 is dead:
you should test it on another PC (friend, neighbor,...) to see if it works or not. -
Plop,
Have you tried forcing the display on the GT630 from the BIOS?
In your BIOS, look for the "VGA" setting and set it to "Auto." If that doesn't work, set it to "On Board" (that will directly launch to the video output of the motherboard). Then save and turn off your PC, reinstall the GT630, connect the screen to the video output found ON THE MOTHERBOARD and turn on the PC. Normally, you should get the normal display. Go back into the BIOS and force the display to "AGP/PCI." Save and reboot, then let us know what happens.

Well, I launch my BIOS, and a blue screen appears with several menus; I imagine the advanced menu is the one we're interested in? (I have FILE, STORAGE, SECURITY, POWER, and ADVANCED) except that in the advanced menu, I have Power-On Options, Boot from BIOS, Bus Options, and Device Options... What should I do?

Finally, problem solved! In fact, my computer detected a second screen that doesn't exist. While moving the mouse, I realized that the cursor came from who knows where. I typed my password in front of the black screen, and then my desktop (Windows 7 interface) appeared. I was able to adjust the resolution (right-click -> resolution). The computer actually detected a second screen named Videocard, which I disabled. :) Thank you all the same for your help! :)
