Low battery warning not showing Solved

Question

Hello,
I have a problem that has been going on for some time
The battery of my Gateway laptop is perfectly fine, and I disconnect it as soon as it's fully charged and only plug it back in when it's almost empty
But for some time now, it no longer warns me when my battery is almost empty, nor even when the battery level is critical, so it becomes a bit frustrating when the PC shuts down unexpectedly in the middle of work (At least I don't lose what I'm doing because it goes into hibernation, but I still wait a good 5 minutes plus 2-3 minutes for it to boot up.)
Where are the warning settings? At first, I thought it was because I was watching things in full screen, but it just did it to me while I was at school, on Word... Please help me!

Hello,

I had the same problem as you and I've just found the solution: right-click on the battery icon, power options, change plan settings (normal use), change advanced power settings, click on battery, low battery level "on battery" (by default 10% for me), I raised it to 15% and now I get the message and sound when I'm at 15% and I have time to plug it in. There you go, I hope it works for you too.

It's here: Window (button) --> Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Power Options --> Change plan settings --> Advanced settings --> Battery --> Low battery level

Are you on Windows 7?

I've been experiencing the same issue recently, and I think the hardware is not to blame:
- on an Asus PC about 2 years old, the problem has been occurring since the beginning of the year
- on a new Toshiba PC, I thought it wise to carry out all the updates for Windows 7... and the same phenomenon appears!
Yet the power settings seem correct on both machines (definition of the different battery levels, actions, ...). There are no more visual or sound warnings, but the gauge works as the percentage is displayed.

I suspect a bug following a Windows 7 update, but it is difficult to pinpoint exactly which one.
If anyone is aware of such a bug, or even the reference of the update causing it, your reply would be greatly appreciated...

@Theluxland: if you have the option to post or send me via PM the information regarding the updates performed shortly before the issue appeared (date and reference of the updates), it could help in identifying which one to uninstall or avoid. I think of other users who wisely choose not to update too often... ;-).

I believe it's the Windows update from early January (KB27622895)
I'm not sure, because I didn't check exactly when the problem occurred, having thought it was only when I was watching things in fullscreen...

Thanks for the info I picked up the alert by raising the low battery level a bit (from 10 to 15%): let's see if that solves the problem on your end.

Well, I’ve been receiving notifications every now and then for a few days... Not all the time, but sometimes... I’ll try to see if it works.
I also set the action to take on critical battery to sleep only. Not prolonged, which allows me to only lose 30 seconds instead of 6-7 minutes. I’ll plug it in as soon as it gets to the screen for entering the account password.
