Hello,
I recently have a problem with my CANON i350 printer.

I installed it on a PC with UBUNTU 11.10 and connected a CANON i350 printer. At that time, I found a compatible driver for UBUNTU 11.10 and the printing was satisfactory.
Since then, the printer was unplugged and then plugged back in, unplugged again, and finally plugged back in, but now I cannot print anymore. The configuration still recognizes the printer, and it is identified as the default printer, but when I try to print, I get a message saying "print canceled."

Could you please help me?....

Thank you in advance,

Open the package manager and enter:
cups
in the search field, then check if the package: cups is installed, if so, request its reinstallation and try printing (without restarting).

Hi,

Sorry, it's still not working. CUPS was properly installed, I deleted it then reinstalled it and I initiated a print (without restarting) but nothing happened. In LibreOffice Writer, I received a message saying that the print job was canceled.

Canon printers are always problematic... here’s what I say on my site:
If you have a Canon printer, the packages are missing... A computer scientist, Michael Gruz, has looked into the issue. Here’s what you need to do: (*)

You open a terminal (You need to go to "Accessories" and "Terminal") and type:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:michael-gruz/canon
then you type:
sudo apt-get update
Once it’s done, you close it and go to system and Synaptic package manager, in the search, you enter the word:
canon
then in the list of packages, you find the one that corresponds to your printer and request its installation. Also identify the one that corresponds to your scanner if it is built into the printer...
If for some reason the system freezes and tells you:
Unable to perform this action because the system is busy or:
Unable to read the sources list
It means you made a wrong maneuver... in that case, check out my post:
How to resolve: unable to read the sources list

After many installation attempts and failures, here are some tips:

If the mention sudo add-apt-repository does not work, you close the terminal and go to system and Synaptic package manager, in the search, you enter the words:

python-software-properties

The package will appear, if it’s not installed, you need to request its installation.

It may also happen that the first time everything works perfectly, then the next day, all happy, you restart and there: horror! nothing works anymore! This issue is apparently known to users, but its resolution is very complicated! I found a trick that doesn’t require much to do:
You go to system and Synaptic package manager, in the search, you enter the word:

cups

A list of packages will appear, you right-click on the package named: cups and request its reinstallation...
That’s all!

(*) Important note: I noticed that now (September 2012) Michael Gruz's repository no longer works! So, you have to manually install the package that corresponds to your Canon printer! Here’s how to do it:

First, you need to download the linux driver that corresponds to your printer by searching Google for:
download Canon printer driver
Important: ensure that the download goes to the "downloads" folder and not "open with".
Then, you need to open "downloads" and double-click on the folder named after your printer, this will open a small list of folders, now you need to double-click on the folder that starts with "cnijfilter", this action will open a small list of two folders, you then hover the mouse pointer over the one that has the word "common", then right-click on it, then click (left) on the mention "open with", then on the mention "open with the software center"... finally allow the package to install!...
Then proceed in the same way for the second package "cnijfilter..."
Finally, connect the printer! and it works! (It’s very simple!...)

Note that you must proceed in the same way to install a downloaded package, both on EasyPeasy and on Ubuntu.

Hello, it may be due to a bad installation of the driver. You can always try this workaround: https://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/HardwarePeripheriques/Imprimante/probleme-canon-i350-sujet_30757_1.htm. If that doesn't work, uninstall the driver and then reinstall it from the official Canon website here: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/support-inkjet-printer/i-series/i350#DriversAndSoftware. Drivers & Software i350 l series.
