Hello,
As you may have understood from GrandCaribou's response, 1 GB (gigabyte) = 1000 MB (megabytes in English). You can therefore compare the capacities.
For the other question, the number of photos depends on their size, depending on the resolution you want. Depending on the device, you can choose standard or high quality. Digital photos are either compressed (JPEG format) or in RAW format (DSLR cameras). They typically range from about 200 kilobytes to 16 MB or more, depending on the camera's sensor.
Depending on the lighting, photos will have different sizes (in MB).
Let's say that with a 256 MB card, you can take between 200 and 300 photos.
Best regards

In summary, it's really small; the current standard is at least 4GB.
With 2GB, you'll be much more comfortable.
Regarding a car radio, do you think that 256 MB is a little?
