Hello,
My friend had a Windows Live account with the email address xxxx.live.fr.
He was asked to sign up for Skype (which he did) since Windows Live is going to be deleted.
But now, he can't find the emails he receives on this account.
How can he find them on Skype?
Thank you for your response.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

It's true that before you could access your Hotmail inbox! This often caused problems for those who had lost or had their password stolen!
But the mailbox is still available for access: Click HERE

Oh great, I've been looking for my box for several months, thank you :)

Thank you, I had been looking for several weeks!!!
I don't really see the point...
Skype only manages real-time communication, something Messenger has been doing for years. The big advantage of Messenger is that an email box is automatically associated with the MSN account.
They got rid of Messenger to end up X years back just being able to do real-time communication... without any direct email box, it's really nonsense...
Okay, there’s Gmail, etc., etc., but everything used to be "linked," everything was included in a single account, we could chat directly and manage our emails at the same time (we were notified of incoming emails in real time while we were chatting).
It stinks of a major money grab, their thing.
Anyway, MSN has been slowly dying for 10 years... the shutdown of MSN Chat, the closure of the kind of "blogs" we could create, and now Messenger is going to die... basically, MSN will completely disappear over time, or else MSN will end up as a low-end search engine.
Personally, I’m glad I got to experience MSN at its peak, it was a great time, but I’m also sad to see that to this day NOTHING can compete with what MSN was.
A piece of advice to everyone...
Do a big cleanup in your Messenger inbox, because often we keep emails with various information (usernames and passwords on sites or forums, various files as attachments, etc., etc.), before it’s too late "transfer" all that directly to your PC and quickly create a Gmail address, changing your MESSENGER address on the sites where you use your current MSN address.
One single Gmail address that will group EVERYTHING, if you play on console... quickly change your email address too,
because moving everything doesn’t happen in 30 seconds.
And prepare for an even crappier time than it was.
AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger... those were the good times when those three were at their peak.

If I understand correctly, I should use Outlook or Gmail to read my emails, and Skype is only for live interactions. Thank you for answering me; that would be nice, and I would stop looking for my emails or messages to read on Skype since I've never found the little envelope. One more question: can we remove Skype if we don't use it? Thank you.
I join the ranks of the complainers who did not appreciate this forced merging of the two services.
I won't emphasize again that this messaging/email box connection was extremely useful for many people.
I want to say to the clever ones who keep repeating that Skype is not an email client that it has now merged with MSN; merging = keeping the characteristics of both and combining them into a single program.
If MSN is no longer what it used to be after this merger, neither is Skype, and it MUST adapt to its new users (who, I insist, DID NOT ASK FOR THIS!). (especially since we are asking for additional features, we are not asking Skype to lose its strengths but to improve).
This is not at all what happened.
What we got was not a merger, but rather "Okay MSN, now you're out, and give me your clients without asking for their opinion."
If we had chosen MSN instead of Skype for years, it’s because we found more value in it.
It was already difficult to keep old practical versions of MSN against new versions filled with fake innovations and tons of ads, but switching to the Skype interface makes me feel sick....
Skype still has a long way to go to meet our expectations; and we will wonder if our calls will be heard.

Hello
Personally, I have Skype and still use MSN, but I haven't switched all my contacts to Skype yet. However, my MSN messaging has become Outlook without me doing anything... and for now, I still access it through MSN... until when? A mystery, probably until they shut down MSN for good, and then I think we’ll have to use Outlook to access our inbox... But I think what Skype should do is give us the possibility to access our mailboxes directly from them... it would be an improvement and everyone would be happy. I’ll add that at first I was also annoyed about the switch from MSN to Skype, but apart from the email issues, the other features are just as good...

I got the same message as verodomi34, saying that Skype is REPLACING Hotmail and that we need to MIGRATE to Skype.
From the way it's presented, Skype would become a messaging service.
buckhulk, I confirm what she said: WLM was uninstalled from my PC during the so-called migration imposed by Messenger.
So thanks for your link, but you must be missing something too...

Hello,
Yes, I think it's the same for everyone, the only downside is that we cannot access our Outlook mailbox "DIRECTLY" through Skype... at least I think so... for now, I always go through MSN which is quite convenient.

It is important to know that Skype is not a messaging service. It works like a social network: you can send messages, and you can receive them. What sets it apart from MSN largely is that you can make voice and video calls.
But Skype does not receive any emails. Even though Messenger and Skype are in collaboration.
If your friend needs an email address, they should create a Yahoo or Gmail account, which comes from Google and is much more reliable and simple, just like you did.

Thank you for the response, but how can he still use his address xxxx@live.fr that he had before and on which he received messages from his friends?
How can he read these messages?
How can he read these messages?
I think what we want to know is whether there is no visual notification or direct access to the inbox, like a button to access it directly in Skype. Thanks in advance.
Good evening,
I downloaded, as we were told, the new Skype, filled in my profile.
And automatically all my contacts came to install themselves on Skype.
Then I was able to communicate with one of my contacts, exactly like on Messenger. We chatted for a long time. So no problem there.
As for the emails I received on Hotmail, they automatically went to Outlook.
But I will see what happens when my Messenger disappears. I hope to stay on Outlook and Skype.
But I assure you that you can chat like with Messenger on Skype.
I just wanted to let you know how it went for me.

If you dig a little into the options, you'll find the privacy section where you have the possibility to delete the history.
Tools> Options> Privacy.
Then there's a section on the page that says:
History Preservation.
And below:
Delete History
You can even adjust your history preservation settings from none to permanent by simply looking just to the left of where it says Delete History
Moreover, it always goes better with a "Hello", lowercase writing, and a "Please", but anyway...
Anyway, you're welcome if this helped you.

Good evening,
yes, you can delete on Skype by going to tools, then options, in the left column, go to conversations & SMS, and in settings, click on advanced options. Then the window opens and go to history conservation and delete the history. Then at the bottom click on save.
I hope it works for you.
Have a nice evening.

For now, these 3 addresses work and lead to the same place to access your inbox:
https://login.live.com/login.srf?lc=1033
https://outlook.live.com/owa/

I understood that Skype was not a messaging service.
But with Wlm Messenger, in addition to being able to chat live, you could also check your mailbox xxx@live.fr
Now there is no way to read this mailbox xxx@live.fr since before you could access it by clicking on the Wlm Messenger icon and since the transition to Skype, this icon no longer works.
What I would like to know is how to read the messages from the mailbox xxx@live.fr again. If it's not possible with Skype, what can it be done with?

Seriously Skype... Well, I'm not saying Skype is bad, but you know what I mean. On Skype, we can use the camera with several people, but on MSN we had an email box --'. Skype added the group camera, but they haven't included an email box --'. How are we going to see bills online or anything else? We won't!!! Well, I used to have an email address that I created with my little sister and I changed it for another one that I really cared about :'( . So, goodbye MSN :'( :'( :'( and hello Skype --'! MSN was better :s :'(
PS: I'm a kid, I'm 10 years old, so sorry for the mistakes :s

Hi
No, there is no direct access to the Hotmail inbox
on Skype. That will be for later.
Since last night, I switched to Skype and to access the Hotmail inbox
you need to go to hotmail.fr and there you'll find your inbox
Ps:
A big thank you to Dexterccm and Jag72 who helped me a lot

I have the same problem!!! The worst part is that I had given my MSN address to everyone and I had been using it as my main address (bank, insurance, etc.) for years!!!
So I found the solution... you just need to create another email address on Gmail, for example, or another service, go to your MSN account, and set up a forwarding of my MSN emails to my other inbox. That way, when you reply to your emails, your correspondents will automatically receive your new email address.
One more little note, I think we are moving from a free MSN to a paid Skype!!!! Find the error!!!

Hello again,
If I understood you correctly, our MSN messaging will not carry over to Skype when we merge on Skype and there is no associated messaging! But we will be able to keep our "......live.fr" or ".....hotmail.fr" messaging, but we won't be able to access them directly through Skype; which was very convenient on MSN.
Let me know if that's right; thank you.
As for me, for the moment I'm still using MSN as long as it works.

I downloaded Skype because I had no choice, but I don't understand anything at all.
the old email was way too easy; Skype is a zero for me.

Michel, Skype is an instant messaging software, it's not an email service.

Good evening.
I would like to point out that without asking me anything, my MSN mailbox has disappeared and will no longer open. However, Outlook opens!!! It gets stuck and I can't read my emails!!!
To read them, I have to go directly to the Outlook website!!!!
Little by little, I think this is what's going to happen to everyone!!!
Once again, I did nothing. I was surprised to find that my mailbox now automatically switches to Outlook.
