Hello,
I am currently converting a whole bunch of old videos digitized from "Super 8" by a professional who provided us with .mov files at 1920x1080. The problem is, a video that lasts, for example, 3 minutes is 800 MB for a low quality due to the digitization of old films. So, I am converting them to .avi at 1080x720 (it takes a while) with Any Video Converter Professional, and I am reducing the file size by 10.
My issue is that everything works marvelously for files encoded in apco, but those encoded in icod, there’s no way... they are all family home movies, digitized by the same person, but who knows why, with different codecs...
Does anyone know a solution to my problem, please?
Thanks in advance!

Well, what comes out of your answers is that icod, even in a .mov file, is a Mac format, so on my grandfather's Mac, I looked for a converter on the forums and came across this https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-4669063-conversion-fichier-mov-en-format-type-avi, I chose Mpeg StreamClip, free.
So, I wanted to convert directly to .avi, but it didn't work, so I'm testing to convert to full-size mp4 with full quality, and I'll try to transfer it to Windows once it's done to put it back in the format I want! And if it works, Hallelujah!!!
Thanks for your answers, I'll keep you posted!

The problem is that the .icod is a Mac-only format, so on PC...
Look online for a .icod to .avi converter.
Look online for a .icod to .avi converter.
It's not an .icod, it's definitely a .mov, but when I put it in the software, for certain files, it indicates (after the movie duration) "apco / 1920x1080 / 25 FPS" (I can convert those), and for others, it indicates "icod / 1920x1080 / 25 FPS" (and I can't convert those), so I imagine it's encoded in icod and not in apco, but I don't know much more...
Good evening,
There is no solution on Windows :(
ICOD is the FourCC (?) for Apple Intermediate Codec. It is incompatible with the Windows system as mentioned earlier!
See Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Intermediate_Codec
I quote "The Apple Intermediate Codec is available only on the Mac OS X platform and cannot be read on other platforms to date such as Windows or Linux"
The Apco may correspond to the Apple ProRes: https://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=Apple_ProRes
It may be compatible with Windows in some cases.
The person who transformed your tapes into MOV probably worked on Apple, so ask them to create a file fully compatible with Windows, that is to say with the Apco codec as you mentioned.
Best regards

Ok thanks. I have a Mac next to me with "MacX Video Converter Pro", so the Mac version of "Any Video Converter Pro", but the files must be too large because every time I try to import a .mov file onto it, it crashes, whereas when I try with one of the converted files on Windows, it works. Do you know another Mac software that can convert videos?
Have a great holiday season!
