J'ai résolu ce soucis avec Icaros...
"
Icaros is a Windows Shell Extension, which is capable of providing Windows Explorer thumbnails,
for essentially any video media type supported by LAV Source Splitter.
Icaros is thumbnailing software. Upon installation, and with 1st use of the application, if you simple click 'Activate Icaros'. it will default to thumbnailing MKV's (10bit files too) and OGM files. It is capable of thumbnailing just about any file by adding its extension(s) to the optional filetypes box and re-activating Icaros. The only filetype not handled by Icaros is Realmedia files.
Changelog:
- [NEW] Implemented new extraction core based on FFmpeg
- Highly improved thumbnail generation speed
- No longer depends on LAV or any Directshow filters
- Moved all Thumbnailing to isolated process
- Lightweigth: More memory and CPU effecient
- Maintains aspect ratio in thumbnails
- No more tearing artifacts
- Supports more formats
- Greater overall stability
- No more DirectShow conflicts
- Improved IcarosConfig startup checks
- Switch ContentID and Video Compression property fields
- Installer allows upgrading now
- Installer can now automatically install VC++ 2010 SP1 Redist if missing
- IcarosConfig can download and install the VC++ 2010 SP1 Redist if missing
- Bug with some unicode filenames fixed
- Icaros can now thumbnail files on network drives
- Plus many more overall improvements and fixes...

Bah si le lecteur MKV par défaut était par exemple Windows Média Player et que tu l'as change en VLC, ça pourrait expliquer. VLC se concentrant sur la lecture et par sur l'icône de la vidéo...
