Invisible Freebox Wifi Solved

Question

Hello,

I just got the freebox + HDTV.
I have 2 PCs at home, one connected via Ethernet to the freebox that works perfectly, and a laptop that I'm trying to connect via Wi-Fi.

The problem is that I can't see my Wi-Fi network with the laptop, which is a Dell Latitude C610, the Wi-Fi card: Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series Mini PCI Card.

I can detect other Wi-Fi networks, but not the one from my freebox.
I read that the freebox uses MIMO; maybe my Wi-Fi card doesn't support MIMO?? If that's the case, how can I make it functional?
Otherwise, do I need to buy a MIMO Wi-Fi card for the laptop?

In fact, I don’t know anything. Any responses are welcome

Friends, I have a real answer on this subject that should make quite a few people happy!! I just subscribed to Free, there are several configurations at my place, Linux and Windows among others.

Surprise, the Windows PC doesn't see the Freebox! In fact, Windows can't connect to the encrypted WPA Freebox on the default channel. You need to change the channel on the Freebox. Steps to follow:

1. Connect via Ethernet as you usually do
2. Access your admin interface via http (often http://192.168.1.254)
3. In the WIFI tab, choose channel 10 and save the configuration.
Disable and re-enable your Wifi card or restart the PC or not... Surprise, it works!!!

Seeing that nothing was working, with another laptop running Vista, I scanned the Wi-Fi networks
by launching Command Prompt and typing: netsh wlan show all

There I realized that my Freebox HD (v5) uses Wi-Fi 802.11 n,
and my old laptop running XP that couldn't see the network uses
a Wi-Fi card 802.11... g!

I tried to find a way to change the signal of the Freebox
to switch it to 802.11g (not even knowing if that was possible) but without success.

I finally bought a Wi-Fi PCMCIA card 802.11n
(D-Link DWA-645, just under €40 for a theoretical speed of 300kbps)

Problem solved for me... I hope it helps some of you :-)

I have several PCs/laptops at home, and the latest one (the first with Windows 7) didn’t see the Wi-Fi connection (Freebox) that was working perfectly until then...

In short, the solution was simply to change the CHANNEL in the Wi-Fi settings of the Freebox. It was set to 13, and I switched it to a channel lower or equal to 11 because I realized while scanning the different channels with a special tool that it couldn’t see anything above channel 11... I don’t know if it’s a limitation of my tool, the Wi-Fi card, or Windows 7...

Hello,  as for me, I updated the wifi card drivers, and it worked perfectly. (Windows 7, System > Device Manager > Network Adapters.

I had the same problem on Windows 7
Here’s how I fixed it:
In Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center
Manage wireless networks: click on the properties of the card
In the Network Management tab, click on Configure
In the Advanced tab, for 802..... set the value to Enable then OK
