DVD player not recognized by the computer

Hello,

A month ago, I was given a MacBook Air for my birthday along with a USB adapter and a SuperDrive USB (external DVD drive), but when I plug them in, the computer says that the SuperDrive USB needs power and should be connected to a USB port, even though it is, and I don't understand what I should do to fix this.

Does anyone have any advice or a solution to give me?

Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 12.1.1

Hello,
Do you use the built-in Type-A USB cable on the SuperDrive?

Here is a link to help with using the SuperDrive

https://support.apple.com/fr-fr/HT201788

In the first line it states:
You can connect an external Apple USB SuperDrive, or a SuperDrive for MacBook Air,
This seems to imply that there is a SuperDrive for MacBook.
Is this the case for you? (Is your SuperDrive dedicated to a MacBook?)

I have an Apple SuperDriveUSB which is a standard USB port, it's not the same as a MacBook SuperDrive?

Hello,
I don't use Mac technology, but I have a big doubt about the use of the USB adapter you mentioned in your first question.
In the link I sent you, it is noted:
The Apple USB SuperDrive has a slightly longer cable (340 mm) than the one for the MacBook Air SuperDrive (250 mm)
I still believe there's a difference in the connection, and it's this difference that prevents your drive from having adequate power (at least recognized).
