Disable answering machine volume Gigaset A420

Hello,
Regarding the Gigaset A420 answering machine: I cannot turn off the answering machine sound, which means that when I receive a message, it is audible to everyone! I can lower the volume during playback, but I can't mute the sound live. Thank you to anyone who can help me.

    long live the internet and "how it works" because the manual doesn't even have the solution.

      Hello,
      Thank you, but this does not mute the answering machine during message recording.
      Nothing seems to work (especially turning off the base ringer...)
      I’m open to any ideas!

      I found it! You just need to go through the option "Answering machine, call filtering, combined/base." Then, just activate/deactivate (via "OK") the base and/or the combined device, so that the messages are no longer audible in open field.
      There's also a way to mute the sound while recording messages by pressing the "hang up" button. Problem solved! Thank you.
