Hello,

thank you to those who can tell me how to read a DAT file

    Download VLC and open it with this program; you can convert .dat to more popular formats with the software format factory.
    (click directly on the hyperlinks to get the software)

      I'm not sure that VLC opens files with the .dat extension.
      It doesn't do it for me.

      If it's indeed a video, it will open!

      You can always convert with ff.

      Just save it to your computer (for example on the desktop) and then open it with Adobe Reader.

    You change the file extension to:
    .mp3 if it's music
    .jpg if it's an image
    etc etc ...

    .DAT is a file extension format that is generally binary (but can also be text), which is quasi-generic and used by many types of applications.

    Only the user is likely to know "where this type of file comes from," and therefore which application to use with it. Advising to use a specific application to open it is, at best, optimistic, if not completely illusory...
