Hello,
The Marée greets you all. I am over 71 years old. I own 6 PCs and all are running Windows XP Pro Pack 3 in PLC. I have a Freebox V5 that was offered to me by Free because there were no more updates for the V4. I am on Freebox Only because I am not unbundled, but I benefit from free phone calls to landlines worldwide and to mobile phones in France. I have a mobile plan at €0.00/month for 1 hour of communication and 60 SMS that I hardly ever use (55 minutes since February 2012). I once tried a Mac which drove me half crazy after 15 days. I sold it right away. I started with Millennium; ugh! Since then, I have always stuck with XP. Don't mention Vista that drove me crazy too, nor Windows 7 which is a maze like Open Office Apache (I stick with Open Oracle 3.0).
Nonetheless, I help my sister with Windows 7, but it's a pain; fortunately, there's CCM and Google.
I just had a power outage and all my PLC (Léa) got drained. I sent a message to technical support which replied within 18 hours. Following the steps in the procedure, which took me 15 minutes, everything is working perfectly again. When I see the prices of PLCs posted on this forum, it makes me jump because they are worth half or even a third less on the site where I bought them (removed by moderation). I do not know, being new, if I can disclose the seller's site that also sells a whole bunch of competing computer hardware.
I can provide the procedure to pair Léa PLCs
Hello,
We sincerely thank you for your email and your interest in our products.
Regarding the communication issue you described, here are the recommendations and procedures to pair multiple PLCs together to form a single network, allowing the various devices connected to the PLCs to communicate with each other.
Recommendations:
NB1: We invite you to read the entire document before starting to handle the PLC boxes.
NB2: We will number the boxes during the manipulations (for guidance purposes). The order of numbering does not matter.
NB3: We will unplug all PLC boxes present at your location. Those to be paired, but also those that are not concerned by the upcoming manipulations.
NB4: The button pressing durations mentioned correspond to our PLC boxes (Léa brand). If you have boxes from other brands, please contact the manufacturer, or if not possible, your Internet service provider, to know the button press duration for clearing pairing data (equivalent to 12 seconds on our products), as well as the pairing initiation duration (equivalent to a 2-second press on our products). For example, on a Freeplug acting as a power supply in addition to PLC, the long press will be 15 seconds instead of 12 seconds.
NB5: If you only have two PLC boxes to pair, stop at the end of step 2 (the other recommendations mentioned previously still apply).
NB6: If you have more than three boxes to pair or if you wish to pair new boxes later on, repeat step 3 as many times as necessary, reconnecting PLC1 each time, accompanied by the new box to be paired (only pair two boxes at a time). Be sure to clear the pairing (step 1) on each box you are pairing.
Manipulations:
Step 1 - Clear the pairing:
Do this on ALL the boxes to be paired together later: press and hold the pairing button for 12 seconds, until the indicators react. Then release. Unplug ALL the boxes afterward.
Step 2 - Pair the first two PLCs:
Plug boxes 1 and 2 into the same power strip (surge protector if available). Press the pairing button on each box for 2 seconds.
Wait for the PLC link indicator to light up in green on both boxes without blinking. Then unplug the PLC boxes.
Step 3 - Pair an additional PLC:
Still on the same power strip, reconnect PLC1 (already paired) and the new PLC to be paired (PLC3 for example). Press the pairing button on PLC1 first for 2 seconds. Then press the pairing button on the new PLC to be paired (PLC3 for example) for 2 seconds.
Wait for the PLC link indicator to light up in green on both boxes without blinking. Then unplug the two boxes.
Step 4 - Self-diagnostic:
These manipulations allow you to verify the proper communication between two paired PLC boxes. To do this:
- Unplug, then reconnect the two PLC boxes (PLC1 and PLC2 for example), on the same power strip, one at each end, with no other electrical device on the power strip. If you have a surge protector power strip, use it for this test. The power indicator lights up on each PLC box.
- Wait up to 40 seconds for the PLC link indicator to light up on each box.
* If the PLC link indicator is lit green, it means that the boxes are well paired and communicating with each other properly. They are ready for operation.
* If the PLC link indicator is lit orange or red, it means that the boxes are communicating, but that there are electrical disturbances. An optimization of your electrical network may be necessary. Please contact us again about this.
* If the PLC link indicator does not light up, please repeat the previous steps (1, 2, or 3). If you are not sure about the correct pairing of the boxes, feel free to start the process from the beginning (step 1). If none of the pairing manipulations allow the PLCs to communicate with each other, please contact us again and let us know.
Important: then perform the same manipulation for the other boxes if you have just paired three or more PLC boxes. Test PLC1 and PLC3, then subsequently PLC1 and PLC4, etc.
Hoping to have answered your request, we thank you again for your trust and choice.
We remain at your complete disposal for any additional technical information.
Best regards,
Vanny.
