How to recover Crystal Eye webcam software

Solved

Hello,

Due to an error, I deleted the folder that allowed me to activate my integrated Crystal Eye webcam on my Windows Vista laptop.
I would like to know if it's possible to download this software? If so, where? I can't seem to find it.

I would like to clarify that my webcam works perfectly with Skype, MSN, and is listed in my device manager.
However, I can no longer activate it via the start menu or desktop icon because the folder is no longer on my computer, and I don't have an installation CD.

Thank you very much to anyone who can help.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Chrome 16.0.912.77

I had also done this search and I found no Acer folder. Same in all Windows.
I really messed up by deleting that Acer.
But thanks for all your findings!

Hello Cristali,

Thank you for replying.
So the brand of my computer is Acer Aspire 5520.
I have indeed followed your instructions, but I can't find any Acer folder in my start menu. I have a folder called "accessories" and so on...
I also looked with "search" and scanned my hard drive, but found nothing.
Do you think it's hopeless to find a way to download and reinstall the drivers and applications?

If you want to find it, you also have the option to reset your computer to factory settings; at least then, you'll be sure to have it back again.

My computer was refurbished by a technician because it had crashed. When I got it back, just a few days later, my CD/DVD drive had disappeared. I had to buy an external drive, so I prefer not to mess with it as long as I still have a working webcam. All I want is to recover the functionality programs for my webcam so I can activate it and record my TV screen.
If that's not possible, I'm trying to see if VLC can act as a webcam?

There is everything you need on the manufacturer's website.

Thank you for your reply, but I'm not looking to dismantle my PC, just to download the software for my Crystal Eye webcam for Acer Aspire 5520G running Windows Vista so that I can activate it from my desktop or the start menu.

If you have any suggestions on this, I'm all ears!

Have you thought about updating your webcam driver or disabling and re-enabling it?
Right-click on the webcam (in Device Manager)

Yes, it's one of the first manipulations I did and it didn't yield any results.
My webcam is indeed present and works perfectly with MSN or Skype, but I have no way to activate it from my desktop or the start menu.

I will keep searching online or find a way to download that famous Crystal Eye webcam functionality program so I can activate it whenever I want and take videos, photos, etc.

Thank you.
I will check if these are indeed the drivers I am looking for before downloading.
Have a good evening.

Eureka !

Thank you, but I no longer need to re-download the Acer Crystal Eye software to turn on my webcam from my desktop.
I found a tutorial that explains how to use VLC to stream your webcam.

I had posted the link to the tutorial, but it seems to have disappeared, so I will outline the steps for anyone who might be interested.

Open VLC:

Go to Media - Capture Device - Configure Video and Audio (add the name of your webcam and microphone that should appear in the dropdown menu) - Click on Play.

To record a video:

Go to Menu View - Click on Advanced Controls
Click the red button to record and that's it!

Simple manipulation as I like! ^ ^
I consider my problem solved!

Again, a big thank you to Cristali, Spamator, and Rafit Jad Kuldinger for the time you dedicated to responding to me so quickly!

Have a great weekend.

You can download and reinstall it from the ACER support site:
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

You need to choose the exact model of your PC (look under your PC, you will find several labels, one of which displays the model)

To ensure a clean operation, make sure that the software is not installed on your PC:
start/control panel / Programs and Features / uninstall

Thank you spamator

So I looked in programs and features. There is indeed an Acer Crystal Eye icon. It's the only place, along with the device manager, where I can find it but I can't access the features.
First, I'll see if I can find the right software on the Acer website, which doesn't seem very user-friendly at all!
Tell me, if I uninstall Crystal Eye, does that mean I won't have a webcam anymore until I reinstall the version I find?

Here is how far I have gotten on the Acer website to find my product.
I entered my SNID.

http://www.acer.fr/ac/fr/FR/content/drivers

After that, I don't see where I need to go to find the Crystal Eye software?
Any advice would be appreciated, please.
Thank you.

There seem to be several possible cameras, it would be necessary to provide the operating system and indicate whether it is 32 or 64 bits.
