Hello,

it's a very simple question.
I have a movie that has 2 audio tracks in English (by default) and in French, and I want to remove the audio track 1 (English) and keep only the 2nd track (French).
How do I remove this audio track on VLC?

You have several options depending on what you want to do:

- With XMedia Recode: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/34/1345578824-choix-langue-04-xmedia-recode.jpg

The operation of joining the obtained files afterwards is one option, it's not the one I would choose, but it has the advantage of being fast since the operation is done in direct stream copy, without re-encoding.

If you want to demux the audio streams separately, you can use Freemake Audio Converter for example: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/34/1345578842-choix-langue-03-freemake-audio.jpg
However, you will need to then add the stream back into the video by mixing everything.

These are just a few examples, made with a test file in VOB containing 3 audio tracks. There are, of course, many other ways to achieve what you want.

Try using Freemake Video Converter, which for me is a relatively simple software.
As for the "conversion duration", it partly depends on your hardware.

However, if your DVD has protections, I remind you that it is illegal to transform it!

Hi
given the number of posts for the same issue and since you apparently have no intention of using software.
open your avi with vlc.

click on audio and select the French track (if it’s in your avi of course)
then click the record button in vlc. You will watch your entire movie
while recording. You will end up with your avi file with only one audio track.
like ziggourat, I could suggest countless ways to proceed.
but you don’t seem to want to get started.

  Anyway, my problem is that I want to remove one audio track out of the 2, so please help me by giving me everything we can do (really everything) to solve this issue that's bothering me, and thanks a lot :D

  No, I just have one audio track (English), it's the default one in VLC, and that's the audio track I want to remove. After converting the VOB to AVI, only one track remains, which is English, even though I've set the default language (I've made it French) in VLC.
  So what I want to do is remove the English track so that my movie only has one language and then convert it to have the desired language (French). "Gej62, you are the one who will help me until the end, and thank you very much, dear friend :D"

  Let's say you've put duplicates everywhere, Zig is not going to be happy because he also replied to you elsewhere.
  
  If your opinion only has one audio track (English), you'll need to start all over again. I'm not going to get into suppressing or extracting a new one, etc.
  
  So you want to create a "divx" file from a DVD.
  You have the DVD, I presume. So it's not protected since you transformed it into avi, right...
  Your (your) vob files come from a video_ts folder

  What you said is correct
  I will tell you everything now:
  I have a few DVDs that I want to put on my hard drive (I know very well that there are software programs where I can convert a DVD to AVI BUT the problem is that it takes a lot of time, which is not possible for me) so in the VIDEO_TS there are parts of the DVD which are .vob and they open with VLC and there are 2 audio tracks: English and French.
  I've been looking for a fast converter for a while, I've used a lot of software and I found that "WinX Free VOB To AVI Converter" is the fastest (a 25min video part converts in 25min :D which gives me the opportunity to redo the work for each part :D
  Knowing well that the DVD contains 2 audio tracks
  I've converted a few parts, it only gave me one track (English) (that's not a problem, I can manage to understand)
  BUT there are other parts that I am about to convert and I am looking for a method to have the French language at the end of the conversion (that's why I suggested the idea of deleting an audio track in the videos found in VIDEO_TS, and the track I aim to delete is the default "English" one)

  The ideal remains to encode in one go.

  Yes, I used Format Factory, DVD Free Studio, Neodivx, Avidemux, Ultra Video Converter, MediaCoder, but I find "Winx ...." the one that satisfies me :D
  I know very well that I have to reassemble after with the same characteristics (by the way, I convert while maintaining the same characteristics)
  Well, if there is a free software that can transform my DVD into an AVI file: a 1h45 movie in less than 2h would be perfect :D
  (my PC gets a bit crazy when it’s on for a little over 2h30, it shuts down :( due to ventilation :( ) but if such software exists, everything will be easily settled, but in less than 2h :) thank you :D
  And for the test you are going to do, just take a track of 30 min max (that's what I do)

  Let's say I took a VOB, I tested your software, and Zig was right, it only takes the first audio track. If it's in English, that's too bad since you can't select others. Well, I'm pleased to see that you've used some software.
  
  If you want to keep WinX, you can try a trick. Do you know DVD Shrink? With it, you can transform your DVD into another DVD but delete the audio tracks you don't want to keep. You'll only have the French one left by default. And you can use it with WinX. There's also XMedia Recode, which opens your
  DVD (if it's not protected) and you can select what you want. I also have Format Factory and Avidemux; I'll take a look.

  The DVD doesn't belong to me, it's a friend's :( (by the way, I'm not just taking one DVD but several, so it will be a bit expensive to burn them all)
  My questions:
  - Do you know of any software that can convert my DVD to AVI in less than 2 hours?
  - Otherwise, how can I remove the default audio track (English) from the .vob videos found in VIDEO_TS? So the new default audio track will be French, and then I'll convert it with WinX and reassemble the parts :D

  - Can I extract the audio track "French" and save it as an MP3 file? Because Ziggourat showed me how to associate sound with a video, so all that's left is to extract it.
