approximate area of any shape

Question

Hello, I work for a new printing company and I wonder if there is software that allows you to determine the area occupied by any shape by giving the dimensions that limit this shape. Let me explain; for example, if I give you this link

I think you hadn't seen the message; I’m talking about any kind of shape. The length and width are just to standardize and know what scale we are on, with what unit we will express the desired area, that's what I need.

Your link doesn't work ..

To calculate various surfaces:
1- effortlessly, using a mechanical means: the integrative planimeter, quite expensive ..
2- if you know the equation of the envelope curve, calculate the mathematical integral using formulas, if the curve is simple enough, and if you have a math whiz on hand.
3- manual graphical integration: break your surface down into adjacent trapezoids (method known as the trapezoidal method ..), and patiently calculate all the little pieces ..
You can possibly bracket the sought value, with larger or smaller trapezoids than necessary, and take a “median” judgment between the maximum and minimum value ..
3- finally, the handyman's method, if you have a precise scale:
- print your surface, possibly enlarged, on thick paper (around 160g/m²),
- cut out your surface, possibly in several copies, to increase precision
- weigh it (them)
- use a rule of three to compare with the weight and surface of your A4 sheet of paper, for which you will measure the exact weight, possibly calculated (160g for 1m²)

Be careful, if you have doubled the dimensions of your original surface, the area is multiplied by 4 (the square) compared to the original ..

The method is ultimately more precise than one might think, a letter scale accurate to the gram works very well ..

A small calculator may be useful, or even a simple slide rule, if you can still find one (I have my collection of antiques available for you), as there are only multiplications and divisions to perform ..

PS: unless there's a calculation error due to the current temperature, an A4 sheet of 160g/m² therefore weighs 9.979 g
