Hello,
After a manipulation that I should never have attempted at my level, wanting to copy my images to the second half of my hard drive, I lost them all. I only have the shortcuts left, but they are unable to redirect me to the originals. The message that appears is: "The item ... to which this shortcut refers has been modified or moved, so it no longer works properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?"
Unfortunately, I had forgotten to make the latest backups!
What can I do? Can someone help me?
Best regards

Hello, I might not be of much help, but there is a software that allows you to recover accidentally deleted files. I have never used it, but I know that it works.
Here it is:

Hello,
the system offered by Lobotomix allows you to recover deleted photos, if they have just been moved, the software will be of no help.
To find lost files in the maze of folders, there is a "search" function in Windows. You just need to know the name or part of the name of the photos to find them. -
Thank you very much for your help! The Recuva software indeed allowed me to recover a large number of photos. However, about 20% of them were not in a condition to be recovered, including some of the most recent ones. I don't know what caused this. Maybe I waited too long.
Well, it’s still pretty good! It's a software I would recommend, even though recovering photo by photo is, of course, a bit long.
But we're so happy to be patient with our struggles!!
Sincerely

Hello,
it's simple, the location of each photo file on the hard drive is indicated to the system by an index in a table. When a file is deleted, the locations are considered free, and it just takes browsing the internet for the files saved during the browsing to take the place of those that are "deleted". In principle, they only take up part of the space because they are smaller. But the original file becomes irrecoverable in any case.
To recover all the files in case of a mishap, you practically don't have to do anything other than launch the recovery software. -
Hello
Thank you very much Cecim!!
Your explanation is crystal clear and I will now be very careful not to repeat this kind of manipulation.
