Good evening everyone! So, I've got a little issue. Actually, my keyboard is acting up, the number keys on the right are not working anymore except for the five key, which now selects, I'm about to lose it because I just fixed my mouse which took me ages to find the solution. I've tried everything on the keyboard or the preferences but nothing works! If anyone has an idea, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had the same thing, you need to press the Num Lock key which is located above the number 7 on the numeric keypad on the right and then it will work. It's the unlocking of the number keys.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are aware of that, but even with this feature enabled, my number keys on the right still don't work. :/

Hi everyone!
I had the same problem and I finally found the solution. This solution only applies to numeric keypads or when the Num Lock key is not working.
First, hold down the Alt key, then press the Num Lock key. Keep them pressed for about 5 to 6 seconds. Personally, on Windows 8, when it's successful, it makes a sound.

Yes, it works!
I set it to numeric French and then back to normal and it still works.
I would have liked to know why it glitched, but oh well,

Well, open your Preferences folder in the User Library in list mode, making sure you can read the modification dates.
Open System Preferences and change the keyboard configuration 2 times.
Look in the folder list for what corresponds to the time of your double modification. Put this file in the Trash and re-modify your System Preferences.
Your corrupted preferences file is definitely gone, but regenerated anew.
This should be a file that starts with com.apple and has the .plist extension.

It’s actually the file: com.apple.HIToolbox.plist

Check that a key on the keyboard is not stuck, it can happen and we don't think about it. In my case, the arrow below the enter key.

There it is, I found it!
I went into system preferences and there,
by going through all of them, under accessibility,
there's the option: use the numeric keypad instead of the mouse.
That's why the 5 key acted as a selection.
I unchecked the box and it works!
I think this time, it's the right one.

If you have a Mac (as this is the Mac OS forum), the system preferences are in the Apple menu. If it’s not a Mac, you need to address the right forum (Windows, Linux...).
