Hello.
I am trying to set the screen to portrait mode, but I can only do it partially. Here is an excerpt from xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter"
Driver "via"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
EndSection
I have already tried adding the following line: Option "Rotate" "ccw", the screen goes vertical but I am unable to log in. I also tried adding the line mentioned above by commenting out the other two #Option. The result is the same.
I also tried: Option "RandRRotation" "on" but the command xrandr -o "option" gives me the following result:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 154 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 2 (RRSetScreenConfig)
Serial number of failed request: 12
Current serial number in output stream: 12
If anyone has another idea to suggest because I’m stuck here.
Thank you for your future suggestions.

Hi, I'm on Ubuntu, and the solution is in the "doc":
Starting from Ubuntu 7.10, this choice can be easily made in System > Preferences > Screen, by selecting a rotation option (right, left, or upside down).
Then just click on "Show displays on the panel" and it creates a shortcut that can be used in less than 2 seconds!
I'm using an Ultra Portable Toshiba Portege M200 with a touchscreen that can pivot, and the solution works perfectly!
Good luck.
See you later! -

I'm also looking for something similar to you with S3 Graphics UniChromeTM Pro IGP, but with Mandriva and I found this on a forum so I'm afraid it might not be possible.
"Ubuntu & UniChrome Pro
I'm planning to buy a new Fujitsu Siemens AMILO LI1705B laptop, a fine machine for my use but the only problem is the UniChromeTM Pro video card. Does anyone know how this works with Ubuntu, Beryl & the upcoming Compiz (or whatever it's called in Gutsy).
I have a BIOSTAR P4M80 board with S3 UniChrome graphics IGP and it performs pretty poorly as Compiz and desktop effects cannot be enabled by default - I am currently looking for a solution - the solution will probably be a new video card purchase... but for a laptop that doesn’t seem very feasible.
Have a good day,"
If anyone has a solution that would be great!

I am also looking for the same thing, that is to say: S3 Graphics UniChromeTM Pro IGP
But I am not very optimistic, as I came across this:

I'm also looking for ... with an ATI Rage Fury 128 ... but maybe it's not possible due to hardware limitations.
If anyone knows how to do it ...
I managed to do it at a friend's place with an nVidia but well ... at my place, it's ATI and no way!! -

I'm searching on Mandriva 2008, but I think the problem is the same.
