Question

Hello everyone, I apologize if I'm not in the right section. For some days now, my PC has been stuck on: (boot from AHCI CD-ROM operating system not found). My computer (Samsung R510) is running Vista, knowing that I lost the box that came with the installation CDs...

Hello,
Enter the BIOS and check:
If the hard drive is properly recognized,
If it is set as the first boot device,
Go to the "onboard devices" tab or a similar tab, and check if it is set to Raid Autodetect/AHCI...
If it doesn't work, set it to either Raid Autodetect/ATA, or IDE, etc... try all combinations.
Otherwise, it's a problem with the boot sector of the hard drive that needs to be repaired (go to www.chantal11.com, tab install-start-repair)

Press F2, you are in the BIOS.
Go to the "primary master hard disk" section and check that the disk is recognized... it is described by the manufacturer's references. For example, a Western Digital drive will start with WD....
Check the boot sequence (the order in which devices are launched... hard drive, CD-ROM, USB key, etc...). There should be something like Boot sequence or Boot menu... and set the order below:

1: Hard drive...
2: CD-ROM/DVD
3: Removable devices (for USB keys, SD cards, ..)

But I believe that in the factory configuration (my computers are not Samsung), the boot sequence is:

1: CD-ROM/DVD
2: Removable devices
3: Hard Drive

I prefer the first boot sequence, as it allows a direct startup from the hard drive, which is faster for launching the operating system
(Windows or other).
Select "load default settings"... to return to a factory configuration of the BIOS. Press F10 to save, then exit.
Is the computer starting up normally without getting stuck... If so, great, if not, return to the BIOS and refer back to the terms of my previous post.

I checked the order in which we launch the peripherals, and the order is as follows:

1. AHCI CD: P1-TSSTcorp....
2. AHCI HDD: N/A
3. USB KEY: N/A
4. USB CD: N/A
5. USB FDD: N/A
...

Is this the right menu that I looked at??? (I can't change the order above, because even by setting defaults, nothing changes)

Is there a chance that the hard drive is defective???

N/A = Either not applicable, or not available, or no answer.

In your case, it’s either not available (hard drive not recognized), or no answer, recognized drive, which should be indicated in this case, but does not respond.
What is the operating system? Please specify the version.
Do you have the installation CD? Or is it a pre-installed version, without a CD?
Do you have the recovery disks?
When the computer starts, can you get to the desktop?
Many questions, but to proceed, we have no other choice.

I don't have the installation CD or the recovery disk, that's why I'm asking for help, and unfortunately I can't get to the desktop; it starts, there's a tiny loading screen, and at that moment I can press F2, but then it just freezes...

Operating system = Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, Linux, etc....
You yourself said that you are on Vista....
There is a "factory" restore function, F4 key at startup, but not knowing Samsung computers, it may erase all software installed afterwards....
Go to this site ( www.chantal11.com ) there is all the information needed for repairs, etc... but you need to know at least a minimum...
It's difficult to do better from a distance.

I have a Samsung R610, which is in the same range as your burn 26. And I have the same screen as you in my BIOS, so I'm quite afraid that my hard drive is dead...

How did you manage to change it? What was the price and, most importantly, the most important question, were you able to recover the files from your old hard drive?

For my case, I didn't change it but bought a new computer to replace it; nothing simpler, you just have to remove a cover and a support to hold the hard drive. I knew it was the hard drive because a friend lent me one, so I would be able to tell you more about the price. The files have not been recovered; however, if I may suggest, if you change your hard drive, get an SSD; it's great. I hope I have been helpful...
