Hello everyone
Here I have a problem with my cursor.
It moves on its own to the top of the screen and I can't move this damned cursor vertically anymore.
I already had this problem a few months ago (see my mouse is crazy)
However, it started again a month ago and I spent hours searching online for someone who had the same problem but to no avail.
I scanned my PC with several antivirus programs (Norton, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Avast, Spyware Doctor) but nothing.
I plugged my mouse into a USB port: the problem is the same except it goes to the bottom of the screen instead of going up.
I tried another mouse: same issue.
I uninstalled the mouse drivers: same thing
I cleaned up the Windows partition, removed as many unnecessary processes from startup, tried changing the virtual memory size but still the same.
I don’t know what to do anymore HELP!!
For your information:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Radeon 9600 Pro
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
512 RAM
Logitech ball mouse (basic)
I'm hoping someone has a solution, thank you in advance.

Thank you for getting back to me seb08
everything works normally even after removing it from the device manager and restarting Windows, it’s still the same.
I don't know how mouse position management works in Windows, but maybe there’s a bug at that level
do you have any other ideas?
thank you

Hi,
be careful with the codec pack installation, apparently you've installed two according to what we can see, it might be messing up your system, your problem could be coming from that, and using PeerToPeer probably doesn't help either ;-)
If you format, try not to reinstall Norton, it will be a plus for your PC

Hi,
the last time I helped someone like you it was because of their mouse pad! I hope it’s not the same thing lol
Download HijackThis:
http://www.infos-du-net.com/telecharger/HijackThis.html
Install it in its own folder:
- right-click on the desktop, choose "new folder" and install it there.
Run it, click on "do a system scan and save logfile"
Then copy and paste the report here please

Otherwise, I have a ball mouse, so I don't believe it's a mat issue. Even without touching the mouse, it moves by itself as soon as Windows starts, and the same in safe mode.
Maybe you'll see something in this log, but I don't see anything really odd.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
there are two antivirus programs, uninstall one of them :-)
then,
Download, install, and update this software (Ewido), once done, perform a full scan of your system, delete everything it finds, then paste the report here along with a new hijackthis report
Ewido: (remains free after the trial period)

Hello
I scanned with ewido but it only found one cookie which I deleted, but nothing else.
I uninstalled Avast that I had installed just for a scan.
That's it, if anyone has any other ideas because right now I really don't know what to do
Thanks boulepate62
If it helps, the problem occurs randomly without me launching anything specific and what troubles me is that it happens even in safe mode.

Hello,
have you tried downloading and installing the latest drivers for your mouse?
it might solve the problem

I did what you told me, I installed the latest Logitech drivers
for now it seems to be working but it can go back to being a problem all of a sudden like usual.
It's weird because with the generic Windows drivers it should have worked I think unless there were still some Logitech files that were causing trouble
I will reconfirm if it works
thank you

Hello, it's always the same, help!!!!!!!!!
If it can help, my cursor always moves horizontally but vertically it acts up as if Windows was losing the vertical position of the cursor.

Thank you seb08 for being present
I did the Microsoft thing but nothing improved
however I couldn't delete the root and host USB hubs as indicated in the procedure
I ran Bitdefender online and it found some stuff but most were in Norton’s quarantine folder
here is the report

there you go but it hasn't changed anything
for your information
my pointer goes to the top of the screen in normal mode and also in safe mode right from the start of the Windows loading (before the desktop shows) as soon as you see the mouse actually
now I really don't know what to do except format (but that sucks...)

Hi
I actually copied and pasted the report from the site
Anyway, there's no improvement
I was wondering:
Could it be related to the graphics drivers?
(I believe they also load in safe mode)
Thanks in advance

Yes, it is possible that it comes from something else (motherboard, graphics card, etc ...) if you tried with another mouse and it's the same.
Do you still have this problem or is it just when you are surfing?

Hi
it randomly happens whether I'm on the internet or not.
in safe mode and normal mode
from the moment the pointer appears during loading, it also happens sometimes
the pointer "jitters" and then goes up to the top of the screen, but I can still move it left and right
really strange but especially very very annoying
I just reinstalled DirectX just in case it might make a difference, but I don't know if it could affect the mouse
