uncontrollable cursor issue Solved

Question

Hello everyone
Here I have a problem with my cursor.

It moves on its own to the top of the screen and I can't move this damned cursor vertically anymore.
I already had this problem a few months ago (see my mouse is crazy)
However, it started again a month ago and I spent hours searching online for someone who had the same problem but to no avail.

I scanned my PC with several antivirus programs (Norton, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Avast, Spyware Doctor) but nothing.

I plugged my mouse into a USB port: the problem is the same except it goes to the bottom of the screen instead of going up.

I tried another mouse: same issue.

I uninstalled the mouse drivers: same thing

I cleaned up the Windows partition, removed as many unnecessary processes from startup, tried changing the virtual memory size but still the same.

I don’t know what to do anymore HELP!!

everything works normally even after removing it from the device manager and restarting Windows, it’s still the same.

I don't know how mouse position management works in Windows, but maybe there’s a bug at that level

Even without touching the mouse, it moves by itself as soon as Windows starts, and the same in safe mode.   Maybe you'll see something in this log, but I don't see anything really odd. Hello

I scanned with ewido but it only found one cookie which I deleted, but nothing else.

I uninstalled Avast that I had installed just for a scan.

That's it, if anyone has any other ideas because right now I really don't know what to do

I did what you told me, I installed the latest Logitech drivers
for now it seems to be working but it can go back to being a problem all of a sudden like usual.

It's weird because with the generic Windows drivers it should have worked I think unless there were still some Logitech files that were causing trouble

I did the Microsoft thing but nothing improved
however I couldn't delete the root and host USB hubs as indicated in the procedure

I ran Bitdefender online and it found some stuff but most were in Norton’s quarantine folder

Yes, it is possible that it comes from something else (motherboard, graphics card, etc ...) if you tried with another mouse and it's the same.

it randomly happens whether I'm on the internet or not.
in safe mode and normal mode
from the moment the pointer appears during loading, it also happens sometimes
the pointer "jitters" and then goes up to the top of the screen, but I can still move it left and right

I just reinstalled DirectX just in case it might make a difference, but I don't know if it could affect the mouse

• Wait for the scan, which may take a while if it's the first time.
• Once the scan is finished, click on Run Cleaner

Deleting registry inconsistencies

• Click on the Errors icon located in the left margin.
• Then click on Analyze Errors
• Wait while CCleaner scans your registry.
• Once the scan is completed, check all the entries it has found.
• You can then click on Fix Errors.

If you are not sure of what you are doing, you can choose to back up the checked entries for later restoration.

hi seb08  I've been using CCleaner for a while and I run it quite often (several times a week)  Otherwise, I've already done several defragmentations with the Windows utilities and also PerfectDisk but it doesn’t change anything  However, what's strange is that PerfectDisk still recommends defragmenting even though I just did it  info: reinstalling DirectX didn’t change anything  that's it, see you later!

Hi,

be careful with the codec pack installation, apparently you've installed two according to what we can see, it might be messing up your system, your problem could be coming from that, and using PeerToPeer probably doesn't help either ;-)

If you format, try not to reinstall Norton, it will be a plus for your PC

But again: •-Actually, I had to unplug my graphics tablet. •-It's simply a surface issue for the optical mouse that can be resolved by turning the mouse pad over if it's black underneath or by avoiding overly colorful or shiny pads. •-In fact, I solved the problem by using a sheet of gray cardboard as a mouse pad! I think optical mice don’t like shiny or very colorful surfaces!! •-As for the inaccuracy or the small erratic movements, they have always been due, in my case, to dirt on the mouse. Let me explain: there are four small gray plastic pads "under" the mouse. They need to be scraped because a mix of grease and dust accumulates there, which alters the mouse's positioning. •-I also have a problem with the mouse moving on its own, but it doesn’t correspond at all to the solutions described above. I have the same issue with my new Acer: the cursor flickers and goes to the top left. What brand is your computer? I think it’s a hardware problem. I’ve already called the hotline twice. They asked me to change browser, but that doesn’t help.

hello  finally my problem is "solved"  I installed an old mouse on the serial port and it works however I don’t have a scroll wheel so either the problem came from my mouse or from the scroll wheel  I thought I had tried changing mice before on my ps2 port but anyway the main thing is that it works  I thank everyone who helped me and see you next time  benett49

Hi.  I have roughly the same problem, which is that my mouse cursor moves up and down at a speed that doesn't give me time to react, as if when the cursor is over a clickable area, it goes crazy and jumps vertically. I can move it horizontally, but moving it vertically is futile. The most annoying part is that it happens at irregular intervals, and this occurs in all kinds of applications. I've scanned, fiddled around in the control panel, and also cleaned my mouse and its connections, but nothing works. Restarting the computer didn't help either. What should I do???

Hello,  I have the same problem and it happens every time I launch a damn JAVA thing. In fact, it’s every time I use the photo upload from Photoweb. Once I start the upload, I can’t type anything using Firefox... the cursor goes back, the space bar doesn’t work anymore... super annoying! So I’m using IE to type this message.  Does that clarify my point of view for you?  If so, maybe there's something to do?  Thanks!

Up !  Well, I've read just about everything and I thank the contributors for their various questions. I had the same problem as you, Benett, but only once. The second time, and not the least, my mouse started right-clicking nervously without me asking it to do anything. Each time, restarting solved the problem, but I'm afraid it might happen again. As for the cursor movement, it’s not too disabling since I can still move my cursor, but for the clicking, I can’t do anything, as my nervous clicking cancels all my actions, to the point where I can't even reboot... I struggled to turn it off; it was a fierce battle between me at the keyboard and my mouse, but I eventually triumphed. After this heroic stage, I still wonder. I had the "improve mouse pointer" option enabled, which I disabled, though I'm not convinced it will resolve my issue. Finally, my mouse is brand new, so it would really piss me off to have to replace it... There you go...  Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 sold with keyboard on Windows 7.
