I don't know which version of Mac OS you are on, but even though the procedure differs slightly, it is still possible to request that you have a keyboard viewer in your menu bar. In Mac OS 10.7, the option is located in System Preferences / Languages and Text / Input method... there you check the appropriate box. Then, you can launch this keyboard viewer from the menu bar. You will then be able to test several key combinations, and you will see the result directly. Perhaps "shift - alt - L"...
