Hello,
Here I am, once again, I need your help for Excel...(If someone offers private lessons, I’m starting to be interested!!)
So, I have a database of people and land parcels that belong to them.
I have one row per parcel (so people can appear multiple times, and that’s almost always the case)
I want to make a subtotal row to know the area belonging to each of these people, so I used the subtotal function... And there I have a problem, the function always shows 0... I immediately checked the formatting of the cell, and tried several things…standard, customized, number… etc... but it doesn’t change anything...
Any ideas to get the subtotal row to display a result?
A big thank you in advance!
Flavien
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello again...
Your solutions didn't work, I still have the text format (ps: I don't think my sheet is secured, at least I unchecked the option...
Thank you
ps: grandpa, that's already what I did, but thank you! -
Hello,
the simplest thing would be to upload an example on cjoint.com and post the link here.
See you later

It's not the format of the cells but rather their content that needs to be checked.
It is indeed possible that the cells contain text instead of numbers.
The simplest method to determine if it's text or numbers is as follows:
Select the area / Right click / Format cells / Horizontal alignment = General
Text aligns to the left and numbers to the right.
If the cells contain numbers in text form, to convert them to numbers:
Select an empty cell / Copy / Select the range to convert / Paste special / Addition

Good evening,
With three columns: names, area, cadastre
In the subtotal window
At each change of: enter the field "names"
Use the function: "sum"
Add a subtotal for
check area
Optionally check "replace existing subtotals"
validate with Ok
See you later
