Hello,
I have been looking for how to open a .nbu file on a computer without a Nokia phone. I found some rather old posts on this subject, but I haven't found a solution. I tried ABC Amber NBU Converter, but it only extracts a few text messages.
Is there a way to open this file in order to recover our data on a PC?
Thank you for your responses.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 8.0

Or more simply use NbuExplorer from Sourceforge here:

Don't thank me, I haven't done anything.-
Good evening,
So I'm answering your question if I understood it correctly: For me, it's enough to choose "open with Nokia" (the program you previously used to download your files from your Nokia phone to your computer): You locate the small Nokia icon in the proposed programs and click it, and then you will return to your saved backup and can freely consult your SMS archives, photos....
I hope I was able to help you, I searched a lot before finally finding this rather simple method!!!
Have a good evening. -

I suggest this, it costs only €49.5, and updates are free. Moreover, it's in English. Everything to please

Thank you, I tried the trial version but it's limited; it only allows you to recover contacts and very few messages. And yes, at $49 it has everything to appeal...

You don't need to open this type of file (nbu). This file, which saves in your "backups" folder, is encoded in computer language. You can get a glimpse of it by opening it with Windows' "Notepad." It opens, and you can see at the bottom of the page messages from your inbox, for example, but it's unusable. Your data from the cell phone, after being synchronized with the computer, is all stored and backed up on your computer in Nokia Suite. Click on the Nokia Suite icon on your desktop, then click on the icons in the upper left corner to see each item you have backed up. As long as you do not uninstall the Nokia Suite program, everything you synchronized there will remain where it is.
Good luck

No panic! I found the best solution to save my contacts from my phone to the computer.
Follow these steps:
- Connect the phone to the computer
- Open Nokia Suite, it usually opens automatically when you connect the phone
- In the top left, click on the head icon (contacts)
- In the left column, it says "Contacts" and just below "All"
- Click on "All"
- At the top of the table, click on Edit - Select all
- At the top of the table, click on File - Export contacts
- A separate folder opens, but you need to choose a location in "My documents," for example, and create a folder "Contacts from my Nokia"
- install the contacts inside
- to open the contacts in a readable way, right-click on 1 contact, open with "Windows Contacts," all the contacts adjust to this choice.
And we have a nice table for each contact with all the details.
And I found this all by myself!-

Yes, but these nbu files contain much more than your contact list:
- SMS and MMS sent and received, including those that no longer appear on your phone ;-)))
- GPS data
- Calendar data.
- Map data
- Game data
Etc.... In short, everything you have backed up.
And I remind you, NbuExplorer from Sourceforge opens and saves them in a universal format and is FREE:

See you later
