Hello,
I have a RAR file on my computer that is split into several parts, some of which are missing. This file contains only one movie. Is there any way to decompress the part of the movie that is on my PC without having the complete RAR file? With WinRar, I can see the movie in the first part of the archive, but not the rest.
Note. I don't need to see the whole movie, just the beginning and the end.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 5.0

We don't care about the legal aspect, the fact is that no, technically it's not possible.
Because in .rar archives, it's not the beginning, the middle, the end, ...
Let's say it could be the top strip, the middle strip, the bottom strip, ...
Or even the even pixels, the odd pixels, ...
In short, it's always mixed information, which only makes sense when everything is together.

As I said in my question, with WinRAR I am able to extract the first part of the archive, which allows me to view the first 20 minutes of the film. It would therefore be logical to believe that the last minutes of the film are in the last part of the archive. However, it is only that part that interests me.

A RAR file is not a mix of incoherent info without the whole ;)
To decode data from a RAR file, you need to have decoded at least the data that was before the said data. So you can decode the beginning, but if you want the end, you will need everything that was before it, because it is as the decoding progresses that WinRAR can decode the subsequent data.
For example, you have rar.001, rar.002, rar.004, but rar.003 is missing or corrupted.
You will be able to extract rar.001, rar.002 but not rar.004 because you are missing the info from rar.003 (and indirectly rar.001 and rar.002) to decode it. -
It is now possible with the software Recovery Toolbox for RAR. It works wonderfully and is very easy to use. What is unfortunate is that it does not work for zip files. I have tried everything for zip files and nothing I have found so far works. But for RAR files, there are no problems. First, it searches and displays everything that can be recovered. Then it extracts directly into the folder of your choice and that's it! It's good for both corrupted files and incomplete files. The only drawback is that for large files it can take a very long time and it's impossible to pause it. But it doesn't consume too much CPU. I once spent a week on a 3GB file. A week without being able to turn off my computer and especially not stopping the extraction because you have to start all over again from the beginning. I used a RAM cleaner to avoid running out of memory. And for the password window, if it has already displayed files in good condition, it means there is no password, so you just have to click on Cancel and the search continues normally.
