Bug with The Sims Pets and More Solved

Question

Hello,

I just bought the limited edition of The Sims 3: Pets. The installation went smoothly, I just had to update The Sims 3 and it automatically installed a patch (I mention this because I don't know if it had an impact on my issue).

Anyway, I launch the game, everything goes well and then when I try to create a horse: bug. The music continues but everything is frozen. I can move my mouse but everything remains stuck even after 30 minutes of waiting.

I turn everything off (I know it’s not great but I didn’t know what else to do...) and I relaunch, everything is fine and then when I want to go to "edit town" it bugs again, exactly the same, the music keeps playing but the image is frozen. This bug has never happened to me even though I have other expansions (VIP access, generations,....).

I play on a Mac.

I think I know that the problem comes from the last update of EA games (before I did it, the game was working very well). They announced on the Sims 3 website that you had to disable custom content before doing it (not having had this information at the time I did it, I didn't do it), otherwise the game would have bugs... I believe that's clear :S

I read on another forum and for another addon that it might have been the game update that caused it to bug, so I'm going to uninstall everything and reinstall everything, and I'll let you know if it works =)

Apparently, yes, it was the update that caused the game to bug, but one of my additional items (VIP access) didn't work because it was scratched, so the installation bugged and I no longer have this add-on, but everything works fine =)

Actually, the bug came back when I tried to create a horse in the household creation mode. I'm really disappointed....  This game bug is really unbearable...  Does anyone have a solution?

Unfortunately, I find myself in the same situation as you and Chacha with this game..
I've tried everything, reinstalling with all the updates the game asked for as well as the patch. I even reinstalled without any updates to see what that would be like. But still the same :/. I've also tried reinstalling The Sims 3 and the Pets expansion pack; nothing works..

And as you said, this bug is really unbearable. Since I bought it, I've barely played for 5 minutes because of this. :(

However, since the expansion pack has just been released, I don't think we'll find a solution (a patch to fix this error or anything..) anytime soon! :(

On PC, installation flawless, but I can't play; when I try to create a household, it gets stuck on "you are entering create a household," for 1, 2, even 4 hours, I didn't wait longer to see if it debugged...

Since it doesn't work on my PC, I'm trying on my brother's Mac, installation of The Sims 3 flawless, it asks me to update it, so I update it and everything, but when trying to install the Pets expansion pack, it tells me that The Sims 3 is not up to date, and therefore the expansion pack is not compatible, yet my version of The Sims 3 is up to date...

So it annoys me to have paid for a game but not be able to play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, it's the update and certain downloaded content that needs to be deleted that are causing problems for this new add-on...
For me, it crashes right in the middle of the game, and I have to turn off the computer or press the escape key --'

Little hope today! After uninstalling and reinstalling all my Sims on my Mac, I gave it another shot (I think it's turning into an obsession for everyone) and miracle, I was able to see a horse from an already existing family, but after 2 minutes of movement, the bug! I believe the problem comes from the updates, the downloads, and this causes a bad connection!

Hello everyone

Indeed, since the addition of the Pets add-on, the game is bugging out.
I'm using a Mac and I've never had any issues with The Sims before.
Since installing Pets and Company, the game takes a long time to launch and to load the towns and families.
I can create families without any problems, and I can play with the pets, even the horses, but from time to time the game just shuts down on its own. Weird...

Let's wait for the next EA update; I think they must have received a lot of feedback and will fix this.

Hello,  I found a solution! I don't know if it works for you, but let me explain:  - I uninstalled all The Sims 3 and the expansions I had, and I reinstalled everything normally.  - I declined the update.  - Once in the game: Do not touch the horses!!!! (neither families with horses nor in create a household). You can create a family (people, dogs, and cats) or go to an already existing family, but especially without horses. And do not interact with any existing horses (wild or not) once in your game. Otherwise, the game will crash like usual.  - Once on your lot: adopt a horse! Once the horse is at your place, no more bugs. At least for me, it worked. I was able to interact with wild horses, gallop, observe unicorns, and even create my horse in "create a household."  Since then, the game works perfectly!  I hope I could help you =)

Hello,  I'm on a Mac and I'm also experiencing the same problem with the horses... But not only that, even when there are no horses, my game freezes every 10 minutes or so and I have to force shut down my computer because it doesn't unfreeze... My Mac is from 2009 but I reformatted it two days ago and reinstalled all the expansion packs and updates (for the computer + for each expansion pack). Plus, my computer has nothing on it except Microsoft Office and The Sims and the basic installations... It's really unbearable because I've never had any issues before and I've been waiting a long time to be able to play with animals... So I don't know what to do, I think I might uninstall the Sims pets.... but I'm really very disappointed because with all these expansion packs I've spent a ton of money and I can't even play.  I've read everything that's been written but THE solution doesn't seem to have been found. And waiting for a patch that will come God knows when... not great... So if someone has any updates, I believe many of us would be happy to hear them. Thanks in advance!

Likewise. I'm on Mac. Today was a real disaster. 6 freezes in one day, so 6 emergency shutdowns, because as soon as it freezes, the whole computer becomes unresponsive. I find it unacceptable to release games (although this expansion is huge after all) that have such debilitating bugs. Since today, it's been impossible to play peacefully. Yet everything was fine before. I would like to know whether reinstalling the add-on resolves this issue or if waiting for an update is the only solution.  Thank you very much.

They released a new update, 1.29, but for me, it hasn't changed anything at all, I'm so fed up!! Still the same bug with the horses that completely prevents playing.

I also have exactly the same problem! I got it at Christmas, and I still haven't been able to play it. I'm on a Mac from 2010 or 2009, so it should be fine. I didn't have too many problems before, but now it glitches when I want to see or create hair. It's super annoying. :/ I reinstalled everything, all the add-ons. And it still doesn't work. I tried lowering the graphics settings, and there's still no improvement.

Hello everyone  after browsing many forums to solve this really embarrassing bug, I finally found my solution.  I don’t know if it will work for you, I updated my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 7300 TC) and when I restarted my game it gave me a blue screen, I panicked... but upon restarting, my game worked. Less lag and finally (hallelujah) I was able to enjoy the horse creation mode....  I haven’t tested the adoption mode on the phone yet though. nor have I gone to the area where the horses are found. But in any case, I played for a good hour with my little family and their 2 dogs without any bugs!  I’m living my best life!  I hope it works for you....   Good luck to you all.

I SOLVED THE PROBLEM ON MY MAC... but not for free. :/  I bought the new version of Mac Snow Leopard (not the latest, but the one before it, which costs €30), I updated my mac and there you go, everything works!!

I also have a problem and I’m FED UP!! Everything is fine, the game is perfect, then I have horses that I train to the max in racing, no issues until then, and when they reach the last point of their racing skill, when they gallop, it bugs out. They move forward at normal speed, but they aren’t actually moving! How to explain… they gallop but every 1/14 of a second the image freezes, then they don’t even take a step, the image freezes and so on. They still manage to move, but the motion isn't smooth at all; it stutters at every step (I want to clarify that this only happens when I have maximum racing skill).

Hello, so let me explain, I’m having issues with the horses too and when I look at the city it’s bugging as well, but I saw that I needed to update the graphics card, but how do we do that? Do we have to pay? Where can we find them? I’ve had a Mac since around 2009 and I got this from my boyfriend on Friday for Christmas (yes, I know it’s not really on time) and I’m very disappointed. Until the moment I wanted to install The Sims 3 Pets, and the installation went well too, but the problem is that I can't play: the game bugs and freezes on the Play button ( |> ) at the beginning. I tried using the normal Sims CDs & the game tells me to insert the Pets disc. I tried again but it's the same. Hello I had the same issue as you but with all the animals! At first, when I got the game everything was perfectly fine until the update when my sims would take a step and then everything would freeze, but the diamond above would keep spinning and the sounds would continue; the sim would be stuck for 1 minute, and that happened every 2 steps... it became unbearable, so I completely uninstalled everything to reinstall without the update, and everything was working perfectly! But after two months, there were some small glitches again, and I preferred to totally uninstall the pets expansion and everything is better now. However, I now have bugs with the update 1.31; is anyone else experiencing bugs with this update? Thank you!

Hello,  I just read all the comments and I'm really worried! I just ordered the Sims 3 pack + Sims 3 Pets and I should receive it tomorrow... I'm afraid I bought it for nothing. I have a mini HP PC that I bought in January and I have Windows 7. My PC doesn't have a CD drive, but my boyfriend installed the games on a USB stick... but seeing all the problems the game has! I think it will be impossible to play... I'm 100% sure it won't run... I'm really disappointed because I wanted to play with the horses, but apparently it's really buggy... For once I bought a pretty expensive game to treat myself, I'm really disappointed =( do you think it will run on my mini PC with Windows 7? 63 euros down the drain!!!!

Hello, if the problem is due to the graphics card, here's how to update it via XP (and Windows Vista I think):  - go to the Start menu - right-click on My Computer > Properties > select the Hardware tab > then > Device Manager. - then, go to the Graphics Card icon. - the version of your Graphics Card will be displayed. > right-click > update driver.  Your computer will update it if there is an update to be done, otherwise I wouldn't know how to help you. But if there is one, do it and reinstall the game. (it is advisable to uninstall the game before updating the Graphics Card). Once the Graphics Card is updated, install the game. I really hope it works, personally, I would try on my computer where the Sims are. If it doesn't work, you still come out ahead; your graphics card is updated!  I'll let you know how it goes. Hello, I bought this game today. I installed it and launched it. Everything was working wonderfully until I wanted to create a cat. I went into "create a family," then "create a cat," and there!!! The cat had twisted legs, a hump on its back, bulging eyes, and its jaw touching the ground. I thought it was normal, but when I tried to change it, it always had that weird thing! So I tried to create a dog: the same thing! And even for horses. I did absolutely everything: I uninstalled the game, modified the game settings, I even tried an already created family, but nothing worked! Always the same thing!! So if you have the solution, please let me know. I'm really disappointed with this game!
