Hi, I had the same problem as everyone else, I went to the Apple website and found the solution.
The solution is to uninstall all Apple software and delete their folders in program files. Restart the computer and iTunes 10.5 installs without error.
I have Windows 7 64 bits. For your information.

Hello,
Thank you for the help,
Unfortunately, I tried, but it doesn't work for me. I still have the same problem.-

Hello,
I had the same problem.
1. Empty the Temp directory and restart the computer (if you have purchased music on iTunes and if an iTunes folder exists).
2. Completely remove iTunes and its associated components (Bonjour, Apple Software...)
3. Install the latest version of iTunes
Let me know how it goes!!! -

Here is a solution that allowed me to at least recover iTunes, and now I'm trying to update to 10.5
for Windows 7 64 install iTunes from the following link: http://support.apple.com/downloads/iTunes_8_1_1_for_Windows__64_bit_ -
Hello everyone.
Good news. I just installed the new version of iTunes 10.5.1.
And it works very well, I no longer have any problems.
I hope you all can install the new version and that you won't have any trouble.
I take this opportunity to thank all the people who help us with their advice and tips.
Thank you all. Miquette

Hello Miquette
Indeed, how did you manage it! I, despite the new version of iTunes 10.5.1, still can't get it to work when I try to update from 10.4!
Help us, Miquette, please!! -
Hello, I have the same problem. I just bought the iPhone 4S and without being able to install version 10.5 iTunes, I can't even use my phone.
If anyone can help me because I am desperate right now lol -

Hello everyone!!! I have the same problem, but I can't uninstall iTunes because version 10.5 won't install; I get an error message every time. And since I have the iPhone 4s, from what I understand, I absolutely need this version.

Hello everyone,
I am on Windows 7 64 bit, I have the same problem as you and I still haven't managed to install iTunes 10.5.1.
However, I went to the site:
http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
I downloaded version 10.4.1 (x64) of iTunes, the installation worked perfectly, and I managed to sync it with my iPhone.
So this will allow me to hold on while waiting for Apple to fix the problem!
Have a good evening.-

I finally found the solution, on another forum, to read this file "iTunes Library.itl": in the directory ...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries, you can find the previous versions of the library. Just rename it with the correct name and copy it to the upper directory (...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes). To do this:
First, type itunes library.itl in the document search bar; there you will find it, rename it to iTunes Library.itl.old and add it to Music/iTunes.
Next, and this is the solution: go to Previous iTunes Libraries and rename the file with the most recent date to "iTunes Library.itl", and add it to Music/iTunes.
Open iTunes and... it works!
Then you will notice that all your previously downloaded files are missing;
so go to iTunes Media and add all the content from 'Mobile Applications' to the 'Apps' in iTunes, the music to 'music' in iTunes, and so on for movies, podcasts, and series...

Hello everyone!!!
Since version 10.5.1 has a few little problems, I downloaded version 10.4.1 but I'm missing Apple Application Support.
Do you have a link for me to download it elsewhere, or do I need to find another way? -
Hello,
I have the same problem as you, iTunes is not installing, it displays an error message: "An error occurred while installing the Microsoft assembly. VOC80.CRT, type="win32"; version=..."
And I can't install it despite several different attempts...
Have you found a solution since then?
Thank you in advance. -
I don't know if this has already been said, but have you tried installing in safe mode and as an administrator?

Good evening, I am still in the same situation, has anyone found an answer?
Here is my error message:
An error occurred while installing the assembly microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070002. -
Hello;
Like many people, I am facing the same problem; in fact, it all comes from Visual C++, which prevents the installation of QuickTime Player??? It would be necessary to uninstall all Visual C++ and reinstall (but be careful, it doesn't work with the redistributable version).......
It seems quite complicated!!!!
Fortunately for me, iTunes works on my laptop!
Best regards and good luck! -
Download the latest update for Microsoft C++: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en-us/confirmation.aspx?familyid=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84
It's working!!! -
Hello, my iTunes won't start anymore and I'm going to try to install a version later than the current one. So could someone give me a link to download iTunes?
Thanks in advance. -
I also encountered the same problem with the latest version 11.1.
Just perform the following steps under Windows 7:
- Windows Button
- Control Panel
- Programs
- Programs and Features
- "Apple Software Update": right-click "repair"
Do the same for all Apple Bookmarks and that's it.
It works without even restarting the computer.
