installing HP C4180 printer without CD?

Question

I bought a printer at half price (practically new) but the problem is there’s no installation CD. I’m having issues; I downloaded software from the internet that includes HP Photosmart installation software and drivers, but after hours of downloading and installing, it still doesn't work. Is there anyone who can give me some advice please, thank you.

Install the printer driver without plugging in the USB cable at first. Only connect the USB cable when the program tells you to do so, and if possible, to the USB ports at the back of your tower. Have you downloaded the correct driver for your operating system?

Bravo si tu as réussi, mais sache aussi une chose : même si tu avais eu le CD, tu aurais eu aussi le problème. Il faut lire le contenu des CD et des notices avant installation, car bien souvent on t'installe cent fois plus que ton besoin, on remplit tes disques, on te pollue. Un simple conducteur d'imprimante. Le sketch d'Anne Romanoff sur l'informatique est très réaliste sur le sujet.

I had the same problem but with an HP C 4280, I went to the HP website and a technician named YOUSSEF helped me out really well, go ahead, he is super competent, good luck.

I had some issues with an HP multifunction printer, and here’s the best way I found for installation: 1/ Download the latest driver from the HP website (Personally, I'm on Vista) and place it in the root of the hard drive, in a folder named "1" (for example... it will be easier to find). 2/ Switch to "administrator" mode if you have multiple users. 3/ Unplug the printer. 4/ Uninstall the driver you already tried to install. 5/ Disconnect from the internet (unplug the ethernet cable if you are on ethernet, disable your Wi-Fi card. This point is important because you need to disable your antivirus (your PC becomes vulnerable at that moment if you are connected) as well as your firewall. 6/ Launch the driver installation program and click OK for everything and be VERY patient: it can take 1/2 hour... Follow the procedures indicated by the program and after restarting, everything should work... Your antivirus will automatically turn back on at the next startup. Reconnect to the internet... This is how I did it, after hours of trial and error, and by doing it this way, it worked for me.

connect your printer and go to the website http://www.ma-config.com/, then run a hardware detection, it will install a small module on your PC, let it do its work, it will detect your configuration with the peripherals you have and will give you a list of drivers and where to download them, it's simple and efficient, in the end save the result of your configuration in a text file in your documents, so every time you want to know what's in your PC you just have to open this file, complete composition including memory, etc…
