Hello,

Yesterday, my laptop screen suddenly froze and it restarted within seconds, but that's when the real problems began:
- Slow startup (initially 5 minutes and increasing to 20 minutes) with a black screen and mouse cursor
- After managing to select my session (the only one) and entering my password, I still had to wait at least 5 minutes to see my desktop appear with a taskbar like in XP (all gray and square "old-fashioned")
- There was also a message accompanying it in the taskbar: "Failed to connect to a Windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service. This problem prevents restricted users from logging onto the system. As an administrator, you can review the event log details."
- The browsing is still slow at times, I decided to back up my important data just in case... The transfer from hard drive to hard drive did not exceed 300 Ko/s, what a hassle...

I tried to solve the problem on my own, I then realized that I had no restore point, that my event viewer was disabled, I looked up existing topics and thus ran an "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt but no errors were found.

This morning, the PC still starts as slowly, now an error appears even before opening the session, a window with the title "LogonUI.exe" and after that the messages vary, between an error with "authui.dll" and "exception processing..."
I can only start it in safe mode.

If you have a solution, please let me know, thank you in advance.

Damien

Configuration: Currently on a desktop PC: Windows XP / Firefox 6.0

For those who have the same problem as me, I just had to run a check disk (chkdsk) to repair the damaged clusters!
