T-shirt printing - transfer paper

Solved

Hello, I want to customize t-shirts myself using transfer papers, but there are several things I can't understand (even though I've spent time reading various articles on this forum).

In fact, I would like to know:

- When printing an image saved in .PNG format on the t-shirt, will I be able to keep the transparency of the background?

- Knowing that I want to print white letters on a black t-shirt, should they be slightly greyed out for it to work (since white ink doesn't exist...)

- Where can I find a tutorial that explains precisely the procedure to follow when using the iron?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

It all depends on the material you are using....

If you are using your "classic" inkjet or laser printer with transfer paper, since there is no white ink, the white background of your image will not be reproduced on the t-shirt... nor will the white areas of the image...
It will be replaced by the color of the substrate, in this case the color of the t-shirt fabric... This is what gives the least satisfactory results.

If you use a "modified" printer for transfer printing with sublimation ink, there are white inks available in this case... Your image will therefore be printed with its white background and white text if desired.. And if there is no background to your image, nothing will be printed in its place...

The transfer with an iron is a solution that works well 1 time out of 100 (and even then!)... To achieve a good transfer, the pressure must be uniform and the temperature constant for a well-defined time... For a quality result, a manual press is the minimum.

If this is to launch you into a new activity, invest in equipment designed for it...

Hello
you (contrariness) say that there is white sublimation ink?
I use an Epson 4450 printer for sublimation and indeed the problem with this type of transfer that is perfect is that you can only work on light textiles.
thank you

I remember seeing an Epson set up with 2 white reservoirs at the FESPA show 2 or 3 years ago... It was a German company specializing in sublimation equipment that presented this product. However, even though Chinese sites still offer this type of ink, the German company no longer offers the product... perhaps it wasn't as reliable as that...
And then Brother direct-to-garment printers appeared on the market.

The problem of white on black textiles is now solved by printable flex... but that's yet another printer with eco-solvent inks... and a cutting plotter.

You're worrying for nothing. I don't have any particular fondness for Micro Application, but there is this: http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Accessoires-Consommables/Papier/Papier-Photo/MICRO-APPLICATION/353687-6-feuilles-de-papier-A4-Transfert-T-Shirt-pour-textiles-fonces.htm#moid:MO-DEE17M14798428

It's for printing on black fabrics. There should be similar products from other brands.
