Hello,
I just bought a WD Elements SE and I'm finding out that I need to format it for it to work on Mac OS X Leopard.
Could someone please detail for me (since I'm really bad at computer stuff) the different steps to make my hard drive not read-only so I can put files on it?
Thanks in advance for your valuable answers

Good evening,
It all depends on whether you want to use this external hard drive exclusively on Mac or on both Mac and PC.
For Mac only, with your external drive connected, simply go to the Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility folder, open it by double-clicking, select your external drive that appears in the left column, go to the First Aid menu ==> Partition, choose the number of partitions and name (usually one is sufficient) ==> Format HFS+ Journaled with GUID partition table if your Mac has an Intel processor, otherwise Mac and then send, in a few minutes or even seconds, the drive will be formatted.
If for Mac and PC, read everything carefully and follow this method:

Best regards

I followed the advice to the letter because I have the same problem; unfortunately, I am not offered the option to partition when I am in the SOS menu...
