there is an equation editor in Word, but I think it's an add-in (paid) that you need to add

however, with OpenOffice v2.0.2 (free) there is the Math module
which allows you to write this type of characters
unfortunately, it cannot be saved in .doc format

you can also search online for a font that includes these elements, but the resulting document will only be readable with your Word (so on your computer)
