Hello,

I signed up on a dating site amoureux .com One fine day, a charming gentleman contacted me saying he would like to befriend me! He gave me his MSN address! I entered his address and we started chatting for a week, we video-called each other once or twice. He claims to be a civil engineer and has to leave for three weeks to Abidjan! He sent me an email to let me know he arrived safely!
So, he introduced himself as Alain Claude GIRRES and supposedly lives in Seyssinet Pariset 38170. I left him my mobile number before he left for Abidjan. We continue conversing on MSN at least twice a day. But some things seem strange to me; I have the impression, from his writing and way of expressing himself, that I'm not dealing with the same person! Well, we continue our discussions on MSN and after some research and having heard about scams from "brouteurs"!
During a conversation, I informed him that I had doubts about his identity! And about what's happening in Ivory Coast concerning the scams: So, he took it very badly, telling me he never asked me for money! Which was true! So I explained that I am cautious and not to take it personally if he's not at fault! That evening, I received an email saying he was hospitalized following a car accident; he broke his arm! He was troubled by our argument! And he ran over a 14-year-old girl during his accident; she has a double fracture of the fibula and adductor injuries! Now I'm really suspicious! He tells me that the police took his passport and that he has to pay €1500 for the hospitalization of the young girl he hit! He calls me that evening saying he is in a state of shock having hit the young girl during the accident! I try to comfort him! He tells me that he will return to France because with a broken arm he can no longer work there! He says he has the money in cash at his hotel!
This morning, he logs in and I check on him; he is very weak and troubled because of what just happened! He sends me a photo with his cast! That the workers at his site signed when they came to see him last night! He must be urgently repatriated!
And now he needs my help! Oh boy!
I say yes!
He explains to me that he needs €90 TO PAY THE HOSPITAL for the girl and to retrieve his passport so he can be repatriated to France! I play along asking how to proceed?
So supposedly he goes down to the reception to get information on this! About 15 minutes later he tells me it’s simple! I have to go to the post office and make a transfer VIA WESTERN UNION oh boy! I've read this in other testimonies! And he will receive the money 15 minutes after the transfer and will be able to pay the hospital for the girl! And retrieve his passport! So now he’s asking me to advance €120 because since he can’t drive anymore he needs to take a taxi!
Since it was discussed that I would go join him after his repatriation this weekend!
While talking, I ask him to give me his address in Seyssinet Pariset so I can prepare my itinerary! He gives me his address! I call the police in Seyssinet Pariset 38170 and they tell me not to send anything, it’s a scam!
Yes, but I want to know if this person actually lives where he says or if the address is fake!

I spoke kindly with the police officer who tells me that the pictures on cam! They all traffic this; these are well-organized gangs! Who know how to extract money!! I deleted him from my MSN contacts. He calls my mobile, I don’t answer!

      Hello,
I don't understand Philippe. There are scams and fraudsters on all sites, regardless of the field. The internet is a mirror of society, reflecting both its best and worst aspects.
As for dating sites specifically, I disagree. They have a dedicated and updated page that lists the most common scams and offers wise and valid advice applicable to all dating sites. They are completely free (hence the ads that support them, but everyone is free not to click), their customer service is responsive and replies by email within 48 hours, and even over the phone. As for fake profiles, they never stay online for too long. I think you're being harsh!
Regarding deleting an account, you just need to click on the line in the welcome email: delete my account... In short, it's just another sweeping judgment...
