Hello everyone,

My XP pro is acting up, so I want to fix it to avoid reinstalling everything. However, I'm being asked for my administrator password. Unfortunately, I've forgotten it and can't seem to recover it! So I would like to know how I could retrieve it..

Another question, my PC shows a LONG black screen between the Windows boot icon (with the little blue bar) and the account selection.. Yet with my hardware configuration, it shouldn't be lagging and it didn't do this before.. Also, my internet has been slow lately even though I'm on Free's unbundled plan..

If you know the cause of my problem, please let me know.

See you soon!!

    Hello,
I just saw this help request and the responses that make me laugh a bit anyway.
I think the reactions (responses) are not really founded because a "hacker" or a "thief" of a PC wouldn't need this kind of help.
However, the administrator password is (often) only set by companies and almost NEVER by individuals.
There are plenty of ways to bypass a password. If you look hard enough, you can find it easily.
To "help" a bit, see the website www.microsoft.com
    Have fun

    Hello,
I understand your reaction, but I am not a hacker. I promise you on my honor.
I also understand yours, but we cannot give tips to bypass a password; if someone else comes here, they could use it for something else.

Besides, I believe that in your case, you have every interest in reinstalling the system; I doubt that a repair will be effective.

For your information, there is a problem with XP when migrating to SP1 or SP2. The issue manifests as follows:
Windows loads; the Windows logo appears with the blue loading bar, and then: nothing. The login and user selection screen does not appear.
To avoid this problem, obtain a legal copy of XP, not a build 2600 or an OEM version, otherwise go to your manufacturer's website to get an update.

    Hello.

Before helping you: can you prove that this PC belongs to you and that you are indeed the administrator????

    Hello,

No assistance can be provided to recover a password. The requester may be well-meaning (and their good faith is unprovable), but the solutions provided could be misused for hacking!

    Therefore:
    - cultivate your memory,
    - ask the administrator,
    - avoid certain manipulations in the future.

As a result, this topic is closed.

    Best regards ;-)
