Hello,
I am deaf in one ear and I am looking to transfer all the stereo sound to the right side of my headphones.
Why? Because there is a lot of sound that I can't hear whether I am listening to music or watching a movie.
I read that on Windows XP you could set it to "mono laptop," but how do you do that on Windows 7?
Thank you in advance as this is very annoying.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.13

I'm not sure if the issue is still relevant:
I had a similar problem, not having a decent pair of headphones (they're expensive!!) I use the hands-free kit from my trusty phone. The problem is that the stereo sound is really poor (it’s like using your iPod with headphones other than iPod ...)
Anyway, a simple way to fix this issue is to partially unplug your jack connector (there are two clicks, I think :) ), it’s a bit of a hack but it works for me. -
Hello,
The solution is very simple if you are connected to the headphone jack.
Under Windows 7, Control Panel, Sound, Headphones, Properties, Enhancements, and here you check "Headphone Virtualization".
Apply and restart your player/webpage.
It worked for me. -
What sound card are you using, please?

the solution is simple:
- Open 'Properties of: Headphones' (click on the headphones).
- In 'Levels' click on 'Balance'.
- Set the side you want to disable to 0 and the other to >0 and OK + Apply.
and there you go -
Hello,
Try right-clicking on the sound icon in the taskbar at the bottom right, then click on Sound and then click on the Playback tab in the Sound window that opens. Select your audio device and right-click on it, then set up the speakers, choose mono and click Next, finally click Finish and there you go.
Hoping to have helped you

Unfortunately, I don't have the option to switch to mono at that location :(
