Hello,
I just bought a Philips 5000 series flat screen, 81cm, and I have a big problem!
All my PS2 games and DVDs are in black and white.
The PS2 cable has three jacks: red, white, and yellow, so I bought a SCART adapter because my screen has five jacks: red, blue, green, white, and red.
10 euros wasted, still no colors and even no image at all!
In the Philips screen manual, it says you need a YPbPr + Audio L/R connection kit, but how can I connect it with my PS2 that has three jacks and not five?!
I hope my message is clear because I don't know this topic at all =)
Thanks for your help!!

When you use this adapter
you plug it into a Scart socket, okay
then you select the correct source on the TV?
You've looked carefully next to the socket, it should be written
AV1 or AV2
or EXT1 EXT2 -
Here is my adapter that I use with the PS2 cable
http://www.sensitiveaudiovideo.com/os1/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/05554a9e7d338d0ddc0723b63862bd4c.jpg
but if I connect the yellow wire to it instead of the green plug on my screen
I end up with no image at all! -
The adapter is brand new. My TV says "no video signal."
Any ideas? -
normally you had this with the PS2

the small adapter that you put at the end of the jack plugs
and you plug that into one of the scart connectors -
I think I'm going to go harass my neighbors to find a solution ^^'
Thank you anyway. -
I have a personal Philips LED and I had to switch the PS2 to channel EXT 1 (or AV1 depending on the TV) and connect it to the basic SCART socket to get the colors :)

I have exactly the same problem as you, Lilou. Have you found a solution? (same TV, same PS2)
Thanks :) -
yes, that's what I did but nothing works! the only thing that works is when I plug the yellow cable into the green socket of my TV...
it's incomprehensible.
I have no desire to play in black and white. -
yes, everything is normally set up properly, that's what is depressing.
I've heard about RBG or SECAM configuration, is that related? -
I know, but it's the only thing that gives me the picture!
Otherwise, everything is black with the message "no video signal" as I mentioned earlier.
Given the price I paid for the TV, one has to keep their spirits up x) -
if it was in black and white on the SCART connection
it's because it was poorly connected
either behind the TV
or behind the PS2
or even both. -
why are you talking to me about an adapter
I'm just telling you that if the image is in black and white
it's because a connector is not making contact
so it's poorly fitted
behind your TV
or on the PS2
push it all the way in -
Well, I'm pushing to the max... but nothing works! T_T
(Nothing to do with it, but I'm a huge fan of Rossi ^^) -
lol
well, can you find me a picture of your adapter
I don't really get it
you don't even need it
if you have what I showed you earlier

I don't think so
you know that the chain for connecting with the green plug
and the connection with the adapter is not the same
that's why I'm asking you if you're choosing the right one -
