Hello,

I have a problem with my antivirus: Avira Antivir
I can no longer open the application! When I try to open the page, an error message appears saying 'the application could not start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. For more information, check the application event log or use the command line tool sxstrace.exe'
I'm really not a tech expert, so it's all total gibberish to me

I still tried to uninstall it to download it again, but it's a total failure; I can't uninstall it either...!
So I still tried to download Avira, and once installed, it tells me that another version is already running... -.-'
So now I'm... lost... If anyone could please help me, that would be nice!
Thanks in advance!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.13

    Good evening,

Additionally, if the error persists after the post below:
    https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-20560392-impossible-d-ouvrir-avira#3

Uninstall by following the method below:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/7367-desinstaller-proprement-liens-et-astuces#antivir as specified in add/remove etc...

Also use the Registry cleaner tool that you will find on the site page in the Link.

Use CCleaner to do some cleaning.
    https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/5647-ccleaner/#tutoriel-ccleaner

Check for Windows updates, your error often relates to the C++ Pack

    Download AVIRA and install it:
    http://www.commentcamarche.net/download/telecharger-55-antivir

If the problem persists, you'll need to consider another Antivirus:

So uninstall Avira and set up MSE:

AVAST won't work either, you'll have the same error.

      Hey,

Some posts on this topic :)

If Avira misbehaves, Avast being even more sensitive to the C++ Pack, there's a high chance of repeating the error with Avast; MSE doesn't even question it :)

To avoid repeating the same mistake and having to install, uninstall, etc., we're switching to MSE.

      :)

Keep an eye on it, though, if we go by what you've written:
I can't open the app anymore Let's assume there was a small issue with the installation from the beginning.

      Best of luck

      See you, Lusche Philippe
